CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Tesla Model X
Summary
With 336 currently listed for sale and an average price of $69,138, 25.0% of 2024 Tesla Model X listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Tesla Model X 5 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2024 Tesla Model X stands out as a large, all-electric SUV that still feels unusual even years after its debut. It is based on the same platform as the Tesla Model S and is classified as a midsize crossover, with two- and three-row configurations that can seat up to seven passengers. Its most distinctive feature remains the double-hinged Falcon Wing rear doors, which open upward instead of outward, giving the Model X a look and personality unlike most family SUVs.
For 2024, the Model X benefits from the broader updates Tesla made to the model in 2021 and later changes that were in place by this year. The cabin has a more modern, premium feel, and the standard equipment list is extensive, including all-wheel drive, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a premium 17-speaker audio system, navigation, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth phone pairing, and a power liftgate. Buyers also get strong tech appeal, but there are tradeoffs: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not offered, and the third row is cramped. The Falcon Wing doors are also tricky in tight spaces, which is worth keeping in mind if you plan to use the Model X as a daily family hauler.
What makes the 2024 Model X especially appealing is the combination of performance, range, and advanced features. The available Long Range version makes 670 hp and is rated at 360 miles of range, while the Plaid version delivers 1,020 hp and 340 miles of range. Tesla also gives the Model X a long list of convenience and driver-assistance features, including adaptive suspension, automatic front doors, and available Full Self-Driving Capability. For buyers who want a used electric SUV with standout design, strong acceleration, and a lot of technology, the Model X remains one of the most distinctive choices.

Great vehicle. It’s so much improved from the 2019 Version. The best technology - which takes a bit to get used to. There are no physical turns signals or levers. It’s a steering wheel with buttons and a large screen that controls all functions in the vehicle. The ride is very smooth and it goes without saying…it’s fast.

Is the 2024 Tesla Model X a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Tesla Model X earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It stands out as a large, all-electric SUV with two- and three-row seating, a premium-feeling cabin, and a long list of standard equipment, including all-wheel drive, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a premium 17-speaker audio system, navigation, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth phone pairing, and a power liftgate. If you want a used EV family hauler with standout design, strong acceleration, and a lot of technology, it fits that brief well, though the third row is cramped and the Falcon Wing doors can be awkward in tight spaces. The market shows 22.5% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Tesla Model X reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2024 Model X is described as a large, tech-forward electric SUV with a premium feel and a broad set of standard features, which supports the case for a well-equipped ownership experience. Its appeal also comes from strong performance and range, with the available Long Range version rated at 670 hp and 360 miles of range, while the Plaid delivers 1,020 hp and 340 miles of range. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the vehicle has been cared for properly, especially because its complex doors and advanced tech make condition and history especially important.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Tesla Model X?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.4% — always verify the vehicle history report. You should prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, door operation, and the cabin’s overall wear, since the Model X’s unusual Falcon Wing doors and premium tech make condition especially important. It also makes sense to confirm that the features you want are working as expected, because this SUV’s appeal depends heavily on its convenience and driver-assistance equipment.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Tesla Model X?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 22.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 334 listings available.
- Clean inventory: 84.4% of listings are accident-free.
Should I buy a 2024 Tesla Model X or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 22.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2024 Model X is the better choice if you want the latest version in this range with strong owner satisfaction, solid accident-free inventory, and a meaningful share of good deals. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth considering, but the 2024 is the cleaner starting point for shoppers who want the strongest balance of availability and confidence.
