Used 2024 Subaru Outback for Sale nearCarson City, NV

How much does the 2024 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 6.06% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,575 listings available, which suggests you should have a solid range of choices.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Outback earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

It stands out for its raised station wagon shape, higher ride height, excellent visibility, spacious interior, and strong safety ratings. That combination makes it especially appealing if you want everyday usefulness without moving to a larger SUV.

The main trade-offs are an underwhelming base engine and a dated infotainment system. If you care more about comfort, visibility, and versatility than the latest tech or brisk acceleration, the Outback fits that use case well.

Only 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective rather than deeply discounted.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Outback’s standard all-wheel drive, strong safety systems, and reputation for value support its reliability case. Its base engine is described as underwhelming, but the turbo powertrain is noted as a better fit for the vehicle’s weight and overall character.

The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a higher-mileage example that has been used hard without proper maintenance records.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Outback?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim or turbocharged example. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the interior, and whether the tech and safety features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from cloth-seat base and Premium trims to leather-equipped Limited and Touring models, with Onyx Edition and Wilderness adding StarTex synthetic leather and more distinctive exterior treatment. The base trim also misses some convenience and audio upgrades, so it’s the one most likely to feel stripped down.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a 2.5-liter flat-four with 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque, while XT models use a 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer four-cylinder with 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. The turbo setup is the better match if you want stronger performance and more towing capacity.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centering, automatic pre-collision braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert becomes standard on the Onyx Edition, so base-trim shoppers should check feature content carefully.
• Infotainment: The base trim uses dual 7-inch screens, while higher trims get an 11.6-inch portrait-oriented display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto start with Premium, and Wi-Fi capability comes on all but the base trim.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is EPA-rated at 26 mpg city and 32 highway, while the turbo setup is rated at 22 mpg city and 29 highway. The Wilderness drops to 21 mpg city and 26 highway.

Which 2024 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Outback is offered in 6 trim levels: Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Wilderness, Limited, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the least expensive way into the Outback, but it’s also the most stripped-down version, with cloth seats, the dual 7-inch screen setup, USB-A only, and the four-speaker audio system. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and are comfortable giving up some convenience and tech.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus USB-C connectivity and Wi-Fi capability. If you want the Outback experience without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the trim to target.
• Onyx Edition: This trim adds a more distinctive look and brings standard blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert. It’s a smart pick if you want more safety content and a more upscale feel than the lower trims.
• Wilderness: This is the choice for buyers who want the most rugged version, with 9.2 inches of ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and dual-function X-Mode. It’s the trim to buy if your priorities lean toward rougher roads and outdoor use.
• Limited: This trim adds standard leather seating surfaces and a more premium cabin feel. It’s a good fit if you want comfort and a more upscale interior without going all the way to the top.
• Touring: This is the most luxurious version, with the largest screen, a CD player, a wide-angle camera, a digital rearview mirror, and a driver-attention monitor. Buy this if you want the most features and the most polished experience.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but the Onyx Edition and Touring add meaningful extra features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Outback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,575 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,345, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $28,345 sits slightly below last year's $30,173.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation. For a future seller, that means resale value may depend more on trim, condition, and mileage than on broad market momentum alone.

The Outback’s broad appeal, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety reputation should help it stay in demand. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment are likely to hold value better than stripped-down or heavily worn ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback safe?

The 2024 Subaru Outback earned a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave it five stars overall.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The EyeSight suite is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centering, automatic pre-collision braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. A backup camera and high-beam assist are also standard.

Reverse automatic braking now comes standard starting with the Onyx trim level. Blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert becomes standard on the Onyx Edition, while the Touring trim adds a wide-angle camera, a digital rearview mirror, and a driver-attention monitor.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the raised station wagon shape, strong safety ratings, and a broad trim range.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,584, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $28,345 average.
• It adds fresh styling, new infotainment and safety tech, and more accessible Onyx Edition pricing.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $31,414, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $28,345 average.
• It keeps the wagon shape and adds practicality, value, and standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the better all-around pick if you want the current-year mix of safety, utility, and a softer used price. If you’re focused on saving money, the 2023 is the smarter value play; if you want to compare against a newer model, the 2025 costs more and is best considered only if its specific updates matter to you.
