Used 2024 Subaru Ascent for Sale nearNorfolk, VA

How much does the 2024 Subaru Ascent cost?

Prices have softened 9.86% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,038 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Ascent earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

The Ascent’s appeal is rooted in its three-row layout, standard all-wheel drive, and substantial ground clearance, which make it a practical fit for family buyers who want Subaru character in a mainstream midsize SUV. It also brings a good-value proposition for shoppers who want an all-weather setup without moving into a luxury price bracket.

The trade-offs are clear: fuel economy is unimpressive, the interior design feels outdated, and the lane-centering technology can be irritating.

With 33.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Ascent’s safety-focused engineering and standard all-wheel-drive setup support its reputation as a dependable family SUV, and the expert evaluation also points to a strong overall value proposition. Its turbocharged powertrain is described as a good fit for everyday driving, with enough strength for commuting, errands, and weekend use.

The Ascent’s maintenance and ownership story is helped by its practical packaging and straightforward mission, though its real-world fuel use can be a drawback if you rack up a lot of miles. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher operating costs and aging tech may matter more as the vehicle gets older.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a lot of family-duty wear. Focus on cabin condition, tire wear, brake wear, and whether the driver-assistance tech behaves the way you expect on a test drive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup runs from Base through Touring, and the biggest feature gaps show up early, especially if you want more comfort and convenience equipment rather than just the essentials.
• Powertrain: Every 2024 Ascent uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 260 horsepower, a CVT, and standard all-wheel drive, and the setup is tuned more for everyday usability than sporty driving.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert requires moving up from Base to Premium.
• Infotainment: You get an 11.6-inch portrait touchscreen with Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and text-messaging capability, while upper trims can add connected services, navigation, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Ascent is rated at 19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined with 20-inch wheels, and real-world testing showed 16.7 mpg in city driving and 18.6 mpg overall.

Which 2024 Subaru Ascent trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent is offered in 6 trim levels: Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, Onyx Edition Limited, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point, but it’s best if you’re mainly chasing the lowest price and can live without the extra convenience and safety equipment that arrives higher up the range.
• Premium: This is the trim that unlocks blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, making it the best-value choice for many used buyers who want a more complete safety setup without stretching too far.
• Onyx Edition: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and a better-equipped feel than the base model, while staying below the upper luxury-oriented trims.
• Limited: This is the middle ground for shoppers who want a more upscale cabin and broader equipment without jumping all the way to the top.
• Onyx Edition Limited: This is for buyers who want the richer equipment of the Limited with the darker, more distinctive Onyx treatment.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, adding a panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, navigation, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon system, a camera-based rearview mirror, and a surround-view camera.

The safety package is strongest once you move beyond Base, since blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard there.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,038 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.86% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,134, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $32,134 sits slightly below last year's $35,648.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you’ll be better positioned to preserve value than someone who pays near the top of the range.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent safe?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and five-star ratings in all NHTSA assessments except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

EyeSight is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert requires moving up from Base to Premium, and higher trims can add automatic reverse braking and Driver Focus with facial recognition.

One caveat is that the lane-centering assist can be irritating and inconsistent in real-world use, especially around lane splits and merges.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 model continues with almost no changes, so you’re shopping a known package rather than paying for a major redesign.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, safety, and standard all-wheel drive, the 2024 is the straightforward pick. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also shop nearby years, but the 2024’s combination of softened pricing and solid inventory makes it an easy year to consider first.
