How much does the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 6.35% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 964 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns an 8.33/10 expert rating, and it is positioned as a refined, sophisticated midsize luxury sedan with a cabin that leans heavily into technology and premium materials.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Technology.

That lines up with the car’s strengths: great ride quality, premium interior materials, and impressive technology. It is especially appealing if you value refinement over flash, and the redesign gives it an understated look meant to age well.

The trade-offs are clear, though. The price is high, fuel economy is poor, and there are minor driving assistance irritations.

With 35.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively rather than rush.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is presented as a polished, well-rounded luxury sedan with standard all-wheel drive and mild-hybrid engines, which supports its modern, everyday usability.

Its powertrain is described as a turbocharged setup paired with a nine-speed automatic and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, and the electric motor helps with launching the car while easing accessory load on the engine. That points to a sophisticated drivetrain rather than a bare-bones setup.

The cost-effectiveness discussion also notes that the E-Class stands out for its technological sophistication, including standard mild-hybrid drivetrains and MBUX infotainment.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a highly optioned, tech-heavy luxury sedan can be expensive to keep in top shape if prior maintenance was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report, verify service records, and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a car with advanced electronics and available driver-assistance equipment. Focus on how the cabin tech, ride quality, and assistance systems function in real-world use, since those are central to the car’s appeal.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The E-Class comes in E 350 4Matic and E 450 4Matic models in sedan form. The E 350 4Matic is the more accessible choice, while the E 450 4Matic adds more power and is the better fit if you want stronger acceleration and a more effortless feel.
• Powertrain: The E 350 4Matic uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while the E 450 4Matic uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder with 375 hp and 369 lb-ft. Both use a nine-speed automatic, standard 4Matic all-wheel drive, and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
• Safety package: The Driver Assistance Package adds 15 technologies, including upgraded Pre-Safe features, Active Emergency Stop Assist, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, lane-centering, lane-change systems, Automatic Lane Change, Active Speed Limit Assist, and Route-based Speed Adaptation. Some of these systems can be turned off, and the lane-centering behavior may feel a little unsure in some situations.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a 14.4-inch infotainment touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with a navigation system, Wi-Fi hotspot access, and over-the-air-style personalization through saved vehicle settings and driver profiles.
• Fuel efficiency: The E 350 is officially rated at 27 mpg in combined driving, though the test vehicle returned 23.8 mpg.

Which 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 2 trim levels: E 350 4Matic and E 450 4Matic.

Here's the short version:

• E 350 4Matic: This is the better-value choice if you want the core E-Class experience without paying for extra power you may not need. It still gives you the standard mild-hybrid setup, all-wheel drive, and the same upscale cabin and technology foundation that define the car.
• E 450 4Matic: Choose this if you want the stronger engine and quicker acceleration. It is the more powerful, more effortless version of the E-Class, and it suits you best if you want the luxury sedan to feel more relaxed under throttle.

The Driver Assistance Package is optional, so if advanced driver assistance matters to you, make sure the specific car you’re considering has it.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 964 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.35% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $53,990, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $53,990 sits slightly below last year's $57,651.

That price movement suggests the market has softened enough to help you buy more selectively today. If you plan to sell later, the current pricing also means you may not see the same strong resale position that a higher-priced market would have supported.

For a future seller, the key takeaway is that this model year is already trading below its prior-year average, so holding value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment. A well-kept example with desirable options should still be easier to move than a neglected one, but the broader trend favors buyers more than sellers right now.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2024 E-Class includes numerous safety features, but if you want the full set of advanced driver-assistance systems, you need the Driver Assistance Package. That package adds upgraded Pre-Safe pre-collision features, Active Emergency Stop Assist, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, lane-centering, lane-change systems, Automatic Lane Change, Active Speed Limit Assist, and Route-based Speed Adaptation.

Some of those systems can feel a little intrusive or uncertain in real-world use, especially the lane-centering behavior and the speed-limit-based braking logic. Even so, the lane-keeping assist itself is described as impressively decisive when you drift too close to a lane marker.

Should I buy a 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.35% compared with last year.
• It is the redesigned model year, with an especially strong emphasis on technology and a more modern, polished cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version of the E-Class formula, the 2024 is the one to target because it brings the redesign, the tech-heavy cabin, and the refined driving character together in a single package. If you are more price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully within this year’s market and look for a well-equipped example near the lower end of the price range.
