How much does the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 8.59% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,016 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns an 8.3/10 from our experts, and the model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Technology.

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is designed for you if you want a midsize luxury sedan that feels refined, sophisticated, and soothing to drive. Its understated styling is meant to age well, and the cabin leans heavily into premium materials and advanced technology, which helps it feel especially modern for the class.

The trade-offs are clear: high price and poor fuel economy are the biggest drawbacks, and the expert review also notes minor driving assistance irritations. Even so, the car’s calm ride and upscale presentation make it a strong fit if you value comfort and tech over outright sportiness.

There are 38.3% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is presented as a polished, well-rounded luxury sedan with a strong emphasis on refinement and everyday usability. Its standard mild-hybrid drivetrains and advanced cabin technology point to a modern design that aims to balance efficiency, comfort, and sophistication.

The performance setup includes a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the E 350 4Matic and a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six in the E 450 4Matic, both paired with a nine-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. The mild-hybrid system is meant to help efficiency by reducing engine load and adding electric assistance during launch, while the available adaptive suspension and rear-axle steering are tuned to improve ride comfort and composure.

On the ownership side, the model’s technology and standard equipment make it feel substantial, but the expert review also points to fuel-economy disappointment in real-world testing. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is less about basic capability and more about whether you’re comfortable with the costs and complexity that come with a highly equipped luxury sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because even a strong accident-free share doesn’t replace a proper paper trail. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the electronics, driver-assistance systems, and any optional equipment, since this model can be heavily optioned. It also makes sense to compare trim and package content closely so you know exactly which features are present on the car you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The E-Class comes in E 350 4Matic and E 450 4Matic sedan models. The E 350 4Matic is the more accessible choice, while the E 450 4Matic adds more power and is the better fit if you want stronger acceleration and a more upscale feel.
• Powertrain: The E 350 4Matic uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while the E 450 4Matic uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 375 hp and 369 lb-ft. Both use a nine-speed automatic, standard 4Matic all-wheel drive, and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
• Safety package: The Driver Assistance Package adds 15 technologies, including upgraded Pre-Safe features, Active Emergency Stop Assist, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, lane-centering, lane-change systems, Automatic Lane Change, Active Speed Limit Assist, and Route-based Speed Adaptation. Some of these systems can feel intrusive or overly cautious in real-world driving.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a 14.4-inch infotainment touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with a navigation system, Wi-Fi hotspot access, and augmented video technology. A head-up display is available, and the Superscreen Package adds a passenger-side display.
• Fuel efficiency: The E 350 is rated at 27 mpg in combined driving, though the expert test observed 23.8 mpg. The mild-hybrid setup is intended to help efficiency, but the review still describes fuel economy as a weak point.

Which 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 2 trim levels: E 350 4Matic and E 450 4Matic.

Here's the short version:

• E 350 4Matic: This is the better-value choice if you want the core E-Class experience without paying for extra power. It still gives you the model’s refined ride, strong technology, and standard all-wheel drive, so it should satisfy most luxury shoppers.
• E 450 4Matic: Choose this if you want the stronger engine and quicker acceleration. It’s the more powerful, more expensive option, and it makes the most sense if you want the E-Class to feel more effortless in daily driving.

The Driver Assistance Package is optional, so make sure you check whether a used example has it if advanced safety tech matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,016 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.59% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $52,638, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $52,638 sits slightly below last year's $57,581.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to be realistic about pricing. If you own one, the E-Class still benefits from its premium image and strong technology story, which should help it hold appeal with luxury shoppers.

For a future seller, the key takeaway is that well-equipped examples should remain easier to market than stripped-down ones. Even so, the softer price trend means you should expect more competition if you decide to sell soon.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2024 E-Class includes numerous safety features, but if you want the full set of advanced driver-assistance systems, you’ll need the Driver Assistance Package. That package adds upgraded Pre-Safe features, Active Emergency Stop Assist, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, lane-centering, lane-change systems, Automatic Lane Change, Active Speed Limit Assist, and Route-based Speed Adaptation.

The expert review says the system works well overall, but some features can feel overly cautious or a little intrusive in real-world traffic. The lane-centering assist also allowed a wider line than ideal in some situations, so it’s worth testing the system yourself if you plan to rely on it often.

Should I buy a 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.59% compared with last year.
• The redesign brings a more modern feel, a technology-rich cabin, and a refined, soothing driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the newest look and the most advanced-feeling cabin in this generation, the 2024 is the one to target. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby model year may offer a lower entry price while still delivering much of the same luxury experience.
