How much does the 2024 Mazda CX-90 cost?

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-90 a good car?

Generally — the 2024 Mazda CX-90 earns 4.33/5 from users and 8.00/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

That lines up with its three-row crossover mission: you get a stylish, upscale design, a turbocharged straight-six or PHEV powertrain, and rear-wheel-drive-based architecture that gives it a more driver-focused feel than many family haulers. The trade-offs are that the PHEV electric range could be better and the technology can be frustrating.

For shoppers who want a family SUV that still feels engaging on twisty roads, the CX-90 fits that brief well. Good and great deals account for 42.9% of listings, so there’s meaningful market activity around it.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-90 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-90’s overall package points to a vehicle built to balance refinement with everyday usability, and the expert test-drive notes highlight strong powertrains and composed handling. Mazda also equips it with a broad standard safety suite, which supports confidence in daily ownership.

Its performance and ownership appeal are helped by the fact that the model is positioned as a premium-feeling alternative without fully luxury-brand pricing. If you plan to keep it long term, the main risk to watch is whether the technology and PHEV-specific range meet your expectations over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mazda CX-90?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a PHEV. Focus on overall condition, how the tech behaves in daily use, and whether the powertrain feels smooth and consistent on a test drive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CX-90 spans many trims, and lower-end versions won’t look or feel as upscale as the top models. The cabin design and materials improve as you move up the lineup, with the highest trims adding richer interior touches.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a turbocharged inline-six and a plug-in hybrid setup. The turbocharged six-cylinder is the more dramatic option, while the PHEV emphasizes efficiency and still delivers strong output.
• Safety package: i-Activsense is standard, and it includes blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, smart brake support with front-crossing and turn-across-traffic identification, rear cross-traffic alert, safe-exit warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Cruising and traffic support is mentioned on the top trim.
• Infotainment: Mazda Connect uses a rotary controller instead of a touchscreen for native functions. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard, and wireless connectivity is available on higher-level trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The PHEV is rated at 56 MPGe combined and has an estimated 26-mile all-electric range, with 490 miles of total driving range.

Which 2024 Mazda CX-90 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 is offered in 11 trim levels: Select, Preferred, Preferred Plus, Premium, Premium Plus, Preferred, Premium, Premium Plus, base, Premium, and Premium Plus.

Here's the short version:

• Select: This is the entry point for the CX-90 Turbo lineup, so it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and the core CX-90 experience without paying for extra luxury touches.
• Preferred: This trim is a sensible step up if you want more comfort and a better overall feel without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Preferred Plus: This is the best-value choice if you want a stronger mix of equipment and price, especially if you’re trying to balance upscale feel with budget discipline.
• Premium: This trim is the sweet spot for shoppers who want a more polished cabin and a more premium ownership experience without going all the way to the top.
• Premium Plus: Choose this if you want the most upscale version of the standard Turbo or PHEV lineup before stepping into the Turbo S range.
• base: The Turbo S base trim is the performance-focused starting point for the top powertrain, so it suits you if you care most about the stronger engine and don’t need the extra luxury add-ons.
• Premium: This Turbo S version is for buyers who want the performance model with more comfort and refinement.
• Premium Plus: This is the top-spec choice if you want the most complete Turbo S experience and the richest feature set.

The standard safety suite is a strong reason to shop any trim, since i-Activsense comes standard across the lineup.

• Deal availability: 42.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,898 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.70% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,614, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mazda CX-90's resale value?

The current average of $30,614 sits slightly below last year's $33,902.

That price movement suggests the CX-90 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For a seller, that means your best outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim desirability rather than expecting the market to rebound quickly.

The current pricing also gives you a clearer benchmark for what a fair used purchase looks like today. If you buy near the lower end of the range and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should be better positioned when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-90 safe?

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 has not been crash-tested by IIHS or NHTSA, so there isn’t a formal rating to cite yet.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda’s i-Activsense suite comes standard, and it includes blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, smart brake support with front-crossing and turn-across-traffic identification, rear cross-traffic alert, safe-exit warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. On the top trim, you also get cruising and traffic support, which blends lane-centering with adaptive cruise control.

The main caveat is that the model’s crash-test record is still pending, so you’re relying on standard equipment and the brand’s safety reputation rather than published test results.

Should I buy a 2024 Mazda CX-90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 42.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.70% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 brings a turbocharged straight-six or PHEV setup, plus rear-wheel-drive-based architecture and standout handling.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $33,307, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $30,614 average.
• It keeps the unusual powertrain lineup while adding a more upscale-feeling overall package.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2024 is the stronger buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for the newer model year, the 2025 is the secondary path for buyers who want the latest version of the CX-90 formula.
