Used 2024 Mazda CX-50 for Sale nearNewark, NJ

How much does the 2024 Mazda CX-50 cost?

Prices are up 1.34% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 4,778 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-50 a good car?

Yes — 4.8/5 from owners and 6.8/10 from experts. The CX-50 is aimed at buyers who want a rugged-leaning compact crossover with standard all-wheel drive and a classy interior, and it backs that up with a stylish design and a practical everyday footprint. The trade-offs are clear, though: performance is fairly pedestrian, and the model is described as poor value for money. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

The CX-50’s more outdoorsy positioning makes sense if you want something that looks and feels a bit tougher than a typical compact SUV, but it’s not the choice if you’re chasing excitement. 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there’s still some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-50 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The CX-50 is presented as a sensible, well-rounded compact crossover that doesn’t offend, and its standard all-wheel drive and straightforward powertrain setup support that impression. Mazda’s safety and equipment coverage also points to a vehicle built to cover the basics well.

The base engine is described as a good daily-driver setup, and the standard equipment list includes the essentials you’d want for everyday ownership. If you plan to keep the vehicle for the long haul, the main ownership risk is that its value-focused compromises may matter more over time than its strengths.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mazda CX-50?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, tire wear, brake feel, and whether the cabin and exterior show signs of harder use. If you’re shopping a Meridian Edition or another more specialized version, pay extra attention to noise, tire condition, and any added accessories.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CX-50 spans eight trim levels, and lower trims are more basic than the higher grades. Base models use manually adjustable front seats, while higher trims add more equipment and upscale touches.
• Powertrain: All models use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, with turbocharging on higher trim levels. The standard setup makes 187 horsepower and pairs with a six-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist tech includes automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, a driver attention monitor, and emergency lane-keeping with road-keep assist. Rear automatic braking, traffic-jam assist, and a 360-degree camera system are optional.
• Infotainment: A 10.25-inch screen is standard, wireless Apple CarPlay is standard, and Android Auto requires a cable. Higher trims add wireless phone charging, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine gets 27 mpg combined (24 mpg city, 30 mpg highway), while the turbo engine is rated at 25 mpg combined (23 mpg city, 29 mpg highway).

Which 2024 Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mazda CX-50 is offered in 8 trim levels: 2.5 S Select, 2.5 S Preferred, 2.5 S Premium, 2.5 S Premium Plus, 2.5 Turbo, 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition, 2.5 Turbo Premium, and 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus.

Here's the short version:

• 2.5 S Select: This is the entry point, and it gives you the CX-50’s core appeal: standard all-wheel drive, the rugged design, and the basic safety and tech setup. It’s the trim to consider if you want the lowest-cost path into the model, but it’s also the most stripped-down.
• 2.5 S Preferred: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without pushing you into turbo pricing. If you want the CX-50’s style and standard AWD with a better everyday experience, this is the sweet spot.
• 2.5 S Premium: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale feel and more equipment without jumping to the turbo models. It’s a good middle ground if you care about cabin polish and added features.
• 2.5 S Premium Plus: Choose this if you want the most fully equipped non-turbo version. It makes sense if you like the CX-50’s standard setup but want to stay away from the higher running costs and pricing of the turbo trims.
• 2.5 Turbo: This is the step up if you want more power and stronger towing capability. It suits you if performance matters more than value, but the content still suggests the CX-50 is not especially sporty.
• 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition: This is the most distinctive-looking trim, with all-terrain tires, a black hood graphic, and more pronounced rocker-panel trim. It’s the right pick if you want the ruggedest appearance, but the added noise and limited handling benefit make it a niche choice.
• 2.5 Turbo Premium: This is the better-equipped turbo choice if you want the stronger engine without going all the way to the top. It should appeal if you want power and features in a more balanced package.
• 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus: This is the range-topper, so it’s the one to buy if you want the most equipment and don’t mind paying for it. It’s the least value-oriented choice, but it delivers the fullest CX-50 experience.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, and the standard driver-assistance list is a major reason the CX-50 feels well covered even in lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mazda CX-50?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers: there’s enough inventory to shop, but the best listings still deserve quick attention.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,778 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.34% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 90.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,824, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mazda CX-50's resale value?

The current average of $27,556 sits slightly above last year's $27,192.

That upward move suggests the CX-50 has held value reasonably well in the near term. For a future seller, that means you’re not looking at a model that has been sliding sharply in the market. The current pricing also indicates buyers are still willing to pay for the CX-50’s styling, standard AWD, and rugged image.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-50 safe?

The 2024 Mazda CX-50 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star frontal crash-test rating and four-star rollover crash-test rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda includes a strong standard driver-assistance suite: automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, a driver attention monitor, and emergency lane-keeping with road-keep assist. Rear automatic braking, traffic-jam assist, and a 360-degree camera system are optional.

The main caveat is that the standard headlights were only rated “Average,” and the nighttime pedestrian front-crash-prevention result was “Basic,” so you’ll want to pay attention to headlight equipment and visibility-related features.

Should I buy a 2024 Mazda CX-50 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.34% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines rugged styling with standard AWD and a classy interior.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,687, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $27,556 average.
• It emphasizes style, driving enjoyment, and a more adventurous character.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $28,361, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $27,556 average.
• It adds a hybrid powertrain and better efficiency.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current pricing, inventory, and the CX-50’s rugged-leaning appeal, the 2024 is the primary pick. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the better value play; if efficiency matters most, look to the 2025.
