How much does the 2024 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices are up 1.35% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 8,667 listings available, which suggests healthy inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Mazda CX-5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Mazda positions the CX-5 as an SUV for active urbanites, and it fits that role with stylish design, taut dimensions, excellent outward visibility, a comfortable cabin, commendable quality, and impressive safety ratings. It is also genuinely enjoyable to drive, which helps it stand out in the compact SUV class.

The trade-offs are clear: the turbo models are not fuel efficient, cargo space is limited, and the technology feels outdated. Even so, the CX-5’s blend of polish, driving enjoyment, and everyday usability gives it broad appeal.

43.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent spread of value opportunities.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-5’s appeal comes from continuous refinement rather than a full redesign, and Mazda has steadily improved the interior, drivetrain, suspension, and safety equipment over time. The result is a crossover that feels polished and well sorted for daily use.

Its performance tuning also supports confidence: the suspension has been reworked for a smoother ride, the frame is stiffer for responsive handling, and the standard all-wheel drive setup adds year-round usability. Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control Plus further helps the CX-5 feel composed in corners.

If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the turbo models can be costly to live with if fuel economy matters to you.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mazda CX-5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a turbo model. Focus on cabin condition, infotainment usability, tire wear, and evidence that the vehicle has been maintained consistently.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CX-5 lineup includes 2.5 S and 2.5 Turbo models, and the base 2.5 S is the better starting point if you want the broadest value. The 2.5 S trims get the core Mazda experience, while the Turbo trims add more power and premium touches. Base-trim shoppers should pay attention to which convenience and luxury features are missing compared with higher trims.
• Powertrain: The 2.5 S uses a 187-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, while the Turbo models use a 256-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four that makes 227 hp on regular gas. The turbo setup delivers stronger torque, but it is not fuel efficient, so it suits you best if performance matters more than mpg.
• Safety package: Every CX-5 includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist, while the 2.5 Turbo Signature gets the most advanced safety hardware.
• Infotainment: The CX-5 uses a 10.25-inch display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on several trim levels. Mazda also offers touchscreen operation for those phone platforms while driving, and Mazda Connected Services adds remote start, a find-my-car feature, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged model returns 24 mpg in combined driving, and the test loop returned 22.9 mpg. If fuel economy matters, the 2.5 S is the smarter choice.

Which 2024 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 10 trim levels: Select, Preferred, Carbon Edition, Premium, Premium Plus, Carbon Turbo, Premium Turbo, Signature, 2.5 S, and 2.5 Turbo.

Here's the short version:

• Select: This is the entry point if you want the CX-5’s core strengths without stretching the budget. It gives you the standard safety suite and the basic Mazda driving experience, making it the most straightforward value play.
• Preferred: This is the trim to target if you want a better balance of comfort and equipment without jumping too far up the price ladder. It should suit you well if you want a more upscale feel than the base setup.
• Carbon Edition: This trim adds a more distinctive look and a more premium presentation, which makes it appealing if style matters to you as much as value.
• Premium: This is a strong middle-ground choice if you want more luxury and convenience without going all the way to the top trims. It is a sensible step up for shoppers who want a richer cabin.
• Premium Plus: Choose this if you want a more fully equipped CX-5 and are willing to pay for extra refinement. It is the trim for buyers who want the most comfort-oriented version of the 2.5 S lineup.
• Carbon Turbo: This is the standout choice if you want the turbocharged engine and a more upscale vibe. It also gets the Bose premium sound system and the test vehicle’s premium interior treatment, making it the best-value turbo trim for many shoppers.
• Premium Turbo: Pick this if you want turbo power with a more luxurious feature set than the Carbon Turbo. It is the right fit if you care about both performance and a richer equipment list.
• Signature: This is the top-end choice if you want the most premium CX-5 experience. It is also the trim that gets the most advanced safety hardware, including the driver monitoring system, surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking.
• 2.5 S: This is the broad trim family for shoppers who want the standard engine and the best efficiency-minded setup. It is the right place to start if you want the CX-5’s strengths without turbo-model fuel penalties.
• 2.5 Turbo: This is the trim family for buyers who want the stronger engine character and are comfortable trading efficiency for performance.

The CX-5’s safety-related upgrades include adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist on higher trims, while the 2.5 Turbo Signature gets the most advanced driver-assistance hardware.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 43.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,667 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.35% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 90.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,823, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $26,893 sits slightly above last year's $26,535.

That upward move suggests the CX-5 is holding demand well enough to support used values. For a future seller, that is a positive sign because a model with steady pricing usually has a broader pool of interested shoppers.

The year-over-year gain is modest, which points to stability rather than a sharp spike. That kind of trend can be helpful if you plan to own the vehicle for a few years and want to avoid steep depreciation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The Mazda CX-5 earns five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA, except for a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda equips every CX-5 with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist with low-speed adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assist.

The standard driver-assistance package is broad and well chosen, and the lane departure and lane keeping systems work without feeling intrusive. The main caveat is that the most advanced safety hardware is reserved for the top trim.

Should I buy a 2024 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 43.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.35% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Mazda’s continuous refinement makes the CX-5 feel better than ever while keeping its premium feel and strong safety reputation.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,703, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $26,893 average.
• It still feels fresh, but it has fewer updates and a more dated infotainment setup.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $27,754, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $26,893 average.
• It keeps the sporty, upscale character while leaning into the same practical trade-offs.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of availability, value, and the latest refinements, the 2024 is the primary pick. If you are price-sensitive, the 2023 is the better bargain, while the 2025 makes sense if you are willing to pay more for a newer model year.
