As its name suggests, the Range Rover Sport offers a slightly less zipped-up experience than its sibling, the Range Rover, but it’s still a deluxe SUV with plenty of luxury features and compelling tech. It also lacks a third-row seat, so this is not the Range Rover to buy if you’re in need of a family hauler.

What’s New for the 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport

Land Rover split its product lines into individual brands earlier this year, but the Range Rover Sport didn’t pick up many other changes. A new SV performance model is available for 2024, but it was available by invite only and has completely sold out.

Design

The Range Rover Sport’s exterior styling is reminiscent of the full-fat Range Rover, but its slightly more compact dimensions give it a more aggressive look. Land Rover offers a variety of wheel sizes and designs, and the SV is available with 23-inch carbon wheels that cut more than 700 pounds in unsprung weight. The SUV features slim, sharp headlights and retracting door handles that give it a sleek look from the side.

Powertrain

The entry-level powertrain configuration for the 2024 Range Rover Sport is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six making 355 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Stepping up a level keeps the same engine, but output jumps to 395 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain is available, making 543 horsepower and 590 pounds of torque, and the top SV gets a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 making 626 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque.

Despite its on-road speed, the Sport delivers shocking off-road capability. It comes standard with all-wheel drive (AWD) and Land Rover’s excellent terrain management system, which alters powertrain, braking, and steering behavior to conquer tough off-road obstacles.

Interior

While the full-on Range Rover offers three rows of seating, the Sport is limited to two. It can accommodate five adults without issue. Land Rover offers excellent materials, including a few leather choices, wood trim, and metal accents in the SUV, and there’s good space in the second row. Cargo space is only average, with 31.9 cubic feet behind the second row and 118 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat.

Technology

Land Rover equips a 13.1-inch curved display running its latest Pivi Pro infotainment system. The system is much improved over previous years', bringing a more intuitive interface with more fluid navigation and better menu structures. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with Amazon Alexa and a Meridian Sound system.

Safety

Several advanced driver aids come standard, including blind-spot monitoring, a 3D-view camera system, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition with speed limiting, driver-condition monitoring, parking assist, parking sensors, and more.

Pricing

Pricing for the 2024 Range Rover Sport starts at just under $84,000 before taxes, destination, and options. The top Sport Autobiography starts at $118,200, but it's sold out, as is the SV Edition One, which starts at $180,300.
