How much does the 2024 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 8.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,449 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento a good car?

The 2024 Kia Sorento earns an 8.7/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It fits well if you want a value-minded midsize SUV with a standard third row, updated tech, and a more upscale look than its size and price might suggest. The trade-offs are clear: the third row is cramped, the base engine is underwhelming, and top trims can get pricey. Even so, the refreshed design and improved infotainment and safety systems make it a strong family-focused choice. Good and great deals account for 33.8% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento reliable?

The 2024 Kia Sorento is positioned as a practical, family-friendly SUV with a strong value focus and a broad set of standard safety features. Its updated systems and more future-proof infotainment setup support the idea that it’s built for everyday use rather than flash.

The powertrain lineup also points to a clear split in ownership experience: the base 2.5-liter engine is described as overmatched by the Sorento’s weight, while the turbocharged version feels much more lively and better suited to the vehicle. The updated software and over-the-air update capability should help keep the tech current over time, and Kia’s added maintenance perk language reinforces the ownership-friendly pitch.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a lower-trim gas model that feels strained in daily driving and may leave you wanting more refinement.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Kia Sorento?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a trim with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, because the Sorento’s value proposition depends heavily on how well the cabin, tech, and safety systems have been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX, S, EX, SX, and SX-Prestige remain, with the X-Line package on EX and higher models and the SX-Prestige also offered as an X-Pro. Base models don’t get all the fixings, while the X-Line and X-Pro add more aggressive styling and a more upscale feel.
• Powertrain: The base 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 191 horsepower and is described as overmatched by the Sorento’s heft. EX and higher models use a turbocharged 2.5-liter with 281 horsepower, which feels much more robust.
• Safety package: Kia’s Drivewise suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assistance, lane-following and lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and safe exit warnings. Highway Driving Assist is available, and Highway Driving Assist 2 is on the SX-Prestige.
• Infotainment: All models use a 12.3-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system can receive over-the-air updates. SX and SX-Prestige models add a second 12.3-inch digital display.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas-powered versions are only about average for their class, and turbocharged models get 23 mpg combined.

Which 2024 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2024 Kia Sorento is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, and X-Pro.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the cheapest way into the Sorento, but it’s also the least satisfying choice because the base engine is the weakest and navigation is not standard.
• S: This is the better value pick if you want to stay near the bottom of the lineup, since it adds more flexibility and can be equipped with AWD.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it unlocks the stronger turbocharged engine and opens the door to more desirable equipment.
• SX: This is the right step up if you want more luxury and tech without going all the way to the top.
• SX-Prestige: This is for you if you want the nicest interior, the most available tech, and the fullest safety and convenience content.
• X-Pro: This is the choice if you want the most capability, with all-terrain tires, improved towing, and the most rugged setup in the lineup.

The safety package is especially strong across the lineup, with the most advanced driver-assistance features reserved for higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Kia Sorento?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,449 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.08% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,704, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $28,929 sits slightly below last year's $31,471.

That decline suggests the Sorento has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help you enter the market at a better price point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect a softer resale environment than last year’s. If you buy well now, you may be able to limit depreciation pain, but the current trend still favors shoppers more than sellers.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2024 Kia Sorento has earned “Good” ratings in IIHS small overlap, original moderate overlap front, and original side tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia’s Drivewise suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assistance, lane-following and lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and safe exit warnings. Highway Driving Assist is available, and Highway Driving Assist 2 on the SX-Prestige adds automated lane changes.

A caveat to keep in mind is that IIHS has not yet fully evaluated the 2024 Sorento, and its LATCH system earns only an “Acceptable” rating because the lower anchors are too deep in the seat.

Should I buy a 2024 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.08% compared with last year.
• It brings a refreshed look, improved infotainment, and more advanced safety systems.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $31,586, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $28,929 average.
• It carries over with no significant changes.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2024 is the smarter buy because it delivers the refresh and the lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year with essentially the same formula, the 2025 is the secondary path.

How does the 2024 Kia Sorento compare to the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2024 Kia Sorento:

• Pros: Practical and family-friendly, Standard advanced safety features, Stylish design.
• Cons: Larger Telluride doesn’t cost much more, Underwhelming base engine, Cramped third row.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe:

• Pros: Stylish design, Multiple powertrain options, Impressive technology.
• Cons: Cramped third row, Pedestrian performance, Expensive in top trims.

Our experts score the 2024 Kia Sorento 8.7/10 and the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe 8.2/10. The Sorento is the better pick if you want a more affordable used price, a strong safety package, and a practical family layout. The Santa Fe counters with more power, more powertrain variety, and stronger tech appeal, but it also costs more on average and can get expensive in top trims. If you care most about value and standard safety, the Sorento has the edge; if you want more punch and tech, the Santa Fe is worth a look.
