How much does the 2024 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 7.56% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,349 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento a good car?

The 2024 Kia Sorento earns an 8.7/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It fits you well if you want a value-packed family SUV that gives you a standard third row without moving up to a larger, pricier midsize SUV. The 2024 refresh also brings a more upscale look, easier-to-use tech, and more standard safety equipment.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, and the third row is cramped. Top trims can also get expensive if you chase the nicest features.

With 38.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento reliable?

The 2024 Kia Sorento is presented as a solidly assembled family SUV with a strong value proposition and a broad set of standard safety features. Its updated tech and safety systems are part of the appeal, and the cabin materials are described as improved over prior years.

The gas-powered version’s performance is mixed depending on trim: the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder is described as overmatched by the Sorento’s weight, while the turbocharged version feels much more lively and better suited to the vehicle. The updated infotainment system is also described as easier to use and more future-proof.

Kia’s maintenance coverage language is not included in the provided data. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is choosing a lower-trim gas model that may feel underpowered over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Kia Sorento?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a trim with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, especially how the cabin, electronics, and safety systems have held up.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes LX, S, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, X-Line, and X-Pro variants, and the base models do not get all the fixings. The X-Line and X-Pro bring more aggressive styling, while the X-Pro adds smaller wheels, all-terrain tires, and extra capability.
• Powertrain: The base 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 191 horsepower and is described as underwhelming, while the turbocharged 2.5-liter makes 281 horsepower and feels much more responsive. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available on higher trims.
• Safety package: Kia’s Drivewise suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assistance, lane-following and lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and safe exit warnings. Highway Driving Assist is available, and Highway Driving Assist 2 with automated lane changes is included on the SX-Prestige.
• Infotainment: All models use a 12.3-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system can receive over-the-air updates. SX and SX-Prestige models add a second 12.3-inch digital display.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas-powered versions are described as about average for the class, and turbocharged models return 23 mpg combined.

Which 2024 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2024 Kia Sorento is offered in 7 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, X-Line, and X-Pro.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it’s the least compelling choice if you want strong performance or a richer feature set. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting price and can live with the base engine’s limitations.
• S: This is the better value if you want to stay near the bottom of the lineup while adding some flexibility, including available all-wheel drive. It still uses the base engine, so it’s best for shoppers who care more about price than punch.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it unlocks the turbocharged engine and a more satisfying driving experience. It also opens the door to more upscale equipment and is the trim where the Sorento starts to feel more complete.
• SX: This is the step-up choice if you want more luxury and tech without going all the way to the top. It adds more premium equipment and is a good fit if you want a nicer daily driver.
• SX-Prestige: This is the pick if you want the most upscale cabin and the most available tech. It suits you best if comfort and features matter more than price.
• X-Line: This is the better choice if you want the added ground clearance, all-wheel drive, and tougher-looking styling. It’s the sweet spot for buyers who want capability without jumping to the most expensive version.
• X-Pro: This is the most capability-focused version, with all-terrain tires, improved cooling, and a higher towing rating. Choose it if you want the most rugged Sorento in the gas lineup.

The safety package is especially strong, with more standard and optional driver-assistance features than ever.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Kia Sorento?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,349 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.56% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,702, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $28,728 sits slightly below last year's $31,076.

That decline suggests the Sorento is currently in a softer pricing phase, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means resale value may be more sensitive to trim choice, mileage, and condition than it would be in a stronger market.

If you buy well and keep the vehicle in clean condition, you should be better positioned when it’s time to sell. Higher-trim examples may hold appeal, but the market is still rewarding shoppers more than sellers right now.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2024 Kia Sorento has not yet been fully evaluated by IIHS or NHTSA, but it has earned “Good” ratings in IIHS’ small overlap, original moderate overlap front, and original side tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia’s Drivewise suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assistance, lane-following and lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and safe exit warnings. Highway Driving Assist is available, and Highway Driving Assist 2 with automated lane changes is included on the SX-Prestige.

The main caveat is that IIHS rated the LATCH system only “Acceptable,” citing lower anchors that are too deep in the seat.

Should I buy a 2024 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.56% compared with last year.
• It brings a visual glow-up, major infotainment and safety updates, and a new X-Pro trim.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $31,439, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $28,728 average.
• It is largely unchanged after the 2024 refresh.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2024 is the smarter buy because it delivers the refresh and the lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2025 is the cleaner follow-up, but it doesn’t add much beyond the 2024’s updates.

• Cons: Cramped third row, Pedestrian performance, Expensive in top trims.

Our experts score the 2024 Kia Sorento 8.7/10 and the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe 8.2/10. The Sorento looks like the better value if you want a practical family SUV with strong safety coverage and a lower average used price. The Santa Fe counters with more powertrain variety and stronger tech appeal, but it also starts higher and can get expensive in top trims.
