The main trade-offs are the base engine’s underpowered feel and the optional turbo engine’s low-speed turbo-lag. Even so, the refreshed styling and updated tech help it stay appealing in a crowded subcompact SUV segment.

The expert review also emphasizes the Seltos’s well-rounded nature, practical packaging, and easy-to-use technology, which supports the case for steady ownership. Kia also backs it with a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty, which is a useful ownership perk if you’re buying used and want extra peace of mind.

For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Kia Seltos?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status is only one part of the picture. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with the turbo powertrain. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re looking at.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX starts with 17-inch alloy wheels, cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, two USB ports, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, Bluetooth connectivity, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The S adds fog lights, LED daytime running lights, silver roof rails, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a larger fully digital instrument panel, LED cabin lighting, combination cloth-and-synthetic leather upholstery, single-zone automatic climate control, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen; heated seats are optional on this trim. The EX adds synthetic leather upholstery, a 10-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and wireless charging. The X-Line adds 18-inch gloss-black wheels, tinted windows, a dark gunmetal grille, and black roof rails, but it loses the wireless charging pad and power-adjustable driver’s seat. The SX adds LED bi-function headlights, LED fog lights, an electrochromatic rearview mirror, a rear cargo cover, a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, and a Bose premium stereo, and it can be paired with the SX Sunroof Package for a power sunroof, hands-free power tailgate, ventilated front seats, and Digital Key 2.0.
• Powertrain: The base 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 146 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque and uses an IVT. The LX comes standard with AWD, while the S and EX can be had with FWD or AWD. The X-Line and SX use a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 195 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and standard AWD. The turbo setup delivers stronger acceleration, but it does have some low-speed turbo lag.
• Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes forward collision avoidance with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure warning, lane-follow assist, automatic high beams, and driver attention warning. The S adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safe Exit Warning. The SX adds smart cruise control with stop-and-go capability, navigation-based curve prediction, traffic sign recognition, highway driving assist, junction-turning support for forward collision warning, and drive-away warning. Base-trim shoppers should note that some of the more advanced features are reserved for higher trims.
• Infotainment: The base setup uses an 8-inch touchscreen and a 4.2-inch digital instrument screen, while every trim except the LX upgrades to a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument panel and a 10.25-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system supports USB-A and USB-C connections. The SX gets an upgraded eight-speaker Bose premium stereo.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.0-liter engine with FWD returns 28 mpg city, 34 highway, and 31 combined. With AWD, it returns 27 mpg city, 31 highway, and 29 combined. The turbocharged 1.6-liter engine returns 25 mpg city, 27 highway, and 26 combined.

Which 2024 Kia Seltos trim should I buy?

The 2024 Kia Seltos is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, S, EX, X-Line, and SX.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value-focused starting point, and it stands out because AWD is standard along with the core tech and safety basics. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry price and don’t need the extra comfort or convenience features found higher up.
• S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the larger digital display, more upscale cabin materials, and useful exterior upgrades without jumping all the way to the pricier trims. If you want the strongest balance of equipment and price, this is the one to focus on.
• EX: This trim is the comfort step-up, adding synthetic leather upholstery, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and wireless charging. It suits you if you want a more polished daily driver and are willing to pay for convenience.
• X-Line: This is the style-and-turbo choice, pairing the stronger 1.6-liter turbo engine with AWD and distinctive exterior treatment. It’s the right pick if you want more punch and a more rugged look, but you should note the equipment trade-offs versus the EX.
• SX: This is the most feature-rich version, with the upgraded lighting, premium audio, and available sunroof package content. It fits you best if you want the most equipment and are willing to pay for it.

The safety-package progression is worth noting: the S adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safe Exit Warning, while the SX brings the most advanced driver-assistance features.

• Inventory: There are 2,529 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.26% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,393, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Kia Seltos's resale value?

The current average of $22,742 sits slightly below last year's $23,507.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim content rather than assuming the market will lift prices on its own.

The current range still shows healthy demand, but the year-over-year decline means you may not get the same return you would have a year ago. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold up better than stripped or heavily worn ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Kia Seltos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.26% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 refresh brings updated styling and technology while keeping the Seltos’s practical cabin and standard AWD on the base trim.

The bottom line: If you want the refreshed version with updated tech, standard AWD on the base trim, and strong owner satisfaction, the 2024 is the better all-around used-buying target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years, but the 2024’s combination of value, equipment, and market softness makes it the safer default choice.
