Is the 2024 Kia EV9 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Kia EV9 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

The EV9 stands out as Kia’s all-new flagship and one of the few fully electric three-row SUVs, so you get family-size space without giving up electric power. It also brings a refreshingly familiar driving experience, along with a well-appointed cabin and a spacious third row that should matter if you need real passenger room.

The main trade-offs are that it is expensive and its electric range is described as medium. Even so, the EV9’s styling, useful interior space, and intuitive driving manners make it a compelling fit if you want a distinctive EV that still feels easy to live with.

42.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Kia EV9 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The EV9 is presented as a new vehicle with a familiar driving experience, and its ownership story is strengthened by its later-term customization potential. That flexibility can help you adapt the vehicle over time instead of feeling locked into the original configuration.

The performance notes also point to smooth, refined power delivery and regenerative braking that can be adjusted to feel natural, which supports an easy day-to-day ownership experience. Kia’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty also helps reduce long-term ownership risk for used buyers, especially if you’re planning to keep the vehicle for a while.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Kia EV9?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on an EV where battery condition and charging behavior matter. Focus on overall condition, charging equipment, and whether the vehicle has been used mostly for home charging or frequent DC fast charging.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base EV9 gets the cleanest look with 19-inch wheels, while higher trims add more distinctive exterior details and interior upgrades. The cabin starts with eight-way power-adjustable front seats and at least two-way lumbar support, and higher trims add more seat customization.
• Powertrain: The Light trim uses a single rear motor with 215 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, while higher trims use dual-motor AWD setups. The Light Long Range version trades a bit of output for more range, and the GT-Line emphasizes stronger torque and performance.
• Safety package: The EV9’s standard ADAS suite includes navigation-based adaptive cruise control with machine learning and stop-and-go capability, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, blind-spot collision warning, forward collision avoidance, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance. Blind-spot View Monitor is limited to Land and GT-Line, and reverse parking collision avoidance assist is reserved for the top two trims.
• Infotainment: You get a three-screen curved display with a 12.3-inch driver display, a 5-inch climate display, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad are standard, and OTA update capability is a major plus.
• Range & charging: The Light trim is rated at 230 miles of EPA-estimated range with a 76.1-kWh battery, the Light Long Range reaches 304 miles with a 99.8-kWh battery, and DC fast charging should take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 25 minutes.
• Battery health: Check the battery state-of-health, confirm normal charging behavior, and review how the vehicle has been used over time. For a used EV, you want evidence of consistent charging habits and enough warranty coverage remaining to give you confidence in long-term ownership.

Which 2024 Kia EV9 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Kia EV9 is offered in 4 trim levels: Light, Light Long Range, Wind, Land.

Here's the short version:

• Light: This is the entry point if you want the EV9’s core three-row EV experience at the lowest price. It uses a single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup and gives you the standard tech and safety foundation, making it the value play if range and AWD are not your top priorities.
• Light Long Range: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the longest range in the lineup at 304 miles while keeping the EV9’s essential strengths intact. If you want the most usable range without moving into the pricier dual-motor trims, this is the one to target.
• Wind: This trim steps up to dual-motor AWD with stronger output and keeps the EV9’s family-friendly layout and standard tech intact. It makes sense if you want more traction and performance without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Land: This trim adds more premium touches, including the Blind-spot View Monitor and the 14-speaker Meridian Premium Audio system. It’s the right choice if you want a richer feature set and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is comprehensive across the lineup, but some features are reserved for Land and GT-Line, so trim choice matters if you want the fullest driver-assistance coverage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Kia EV9?

The market looks favorable if you’re shopping now, with meaningful deal availability and a healthy supply of used EV9s.

• Deal availability: 42.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 655 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.08% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,731, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Kia EV9's resale value?

The current average of $42,318 sits slightly below last year's $46,543.

That price movement suggests the EV9 has already moved off its earlier peak, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less ideal if you’re planning to sell soon. For a future seller, the current softness means you may not recover as much as an early owner paid, especially if the market stays competitive.

Even so, the EV9’s distinctive positioning as a rare three-row EV should help it stay relevant with shoppers who need space and electric power in one package. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Kia EV9 safe?

The 2024 Kia EV9 has not been rated for safety by IIHS or NHTSA as of this writing.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The EV9’s standard driver-assistance suite is comprehensive, with navigation-based adaptive cruise control, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, blind-spot collision warning, forward collision avoidance, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance. Blind-spot View Monitor is limited to Land and GT-Line, and reverse parking collision avoidance assist is reserved for the top two trims.

Should I buy a 2024 Kia EV9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 42.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 EV9 stands out as Kia’s all-new flagship and one of very few fully electric three-row SUVs, with standout technology and a refreshingly familiar driving experience.

The bottom line: If you want the EV9’s newest design, strong tech, and rare three-row EV packaging, the 2024 is the clear primary path. If you’re especially price-sensitive, shop aggressively for a lower-mileage example near the low end of the range, since the current market already shows softened pricing and a decent share of good deals.
