Why it stands out
The 2024 Hyundai Tucson stands out as a well-rounded compact SUV that blends a contemporary look with a broad mix of everyday strengths. It is described as packing tons of safety features in an athletic, contemporary package, and it is also presented as a good value. Rather than trying to dominate one specific area, it aims to cover a lot of what modern shoppers want in a small SUV.
That balance shows up in its strengths: an energetic turbocharged powertrain, good passenger and cargo space, and refined cabin styling. The Tucson is also noted for impressive tech and safety features, and owners commonly praise its spacious interior, sleek design, and value for money. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks. The infotainment system can be frustrating, the shifter controls in Limited models have a learning curve, and the powertrain is also described as disappointing, so buyers should expect a capable all-arounder rather than a standout in every category.

The car has great features, I wish it had more compartments. It needs somewhere to put your sunglasses. I also drove the Santa fe. It was really nice but also so much more now with the upgraded body.

I love the features of this car. It has everything I want and more. I love the sleek design. It’s a great price for its value. I’ve had no issues so far. The only complaint I have is the visor lighting is very poor, but that’s a very minor complaint.

How much does the 2024 Hyundai Tucson cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $23,642 |
| Year-Round Low | $21,545.31 |
| Year-Round High | $24,317.60 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $24,315 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.77% |
Prices have softened 2.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 7,607 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare across trims and conditions.
If you find a listing below $21,545.31, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Hyundai Tucson earns a 4.6/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its spacious interior, modern technology, sleek design, and value for money. The Tucson also comes across as a well-rounded choice for shoppers who want a compact SUV that covers a lot of everyday needs without chasing one narrow specialty.
The trade-offs are worth keeping in mind: the infotainment system can be frustrating, and the powertrain is described as disappointing. Even so, the Tucson’s broad appeal and practical packaging make it a strong fit if you want comfort, space, and features over outright excitement.
With a 30.1% share of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on its value, modern technology, and spacious cabin. That kind of consistent satisfaction usually matters more than a single flashy feature when you’re trying to judge how a used SUV will hold up for you over time.
The Tucson’s well-rounded driving character and strong warranty coverage also support the case for long-term ownership confidence. For used buyers, the main risk is less about a single glaring flaw and more about making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been maintained well and still feels as solid as it should.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Tucson?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a vehicle-by-vehicle review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with visible wear, and pay close attention to cabin condition, controls, and how the infotainment system operates in real use.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE starts with 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, two USB ports, remote keyless entry, a manually adjustable driver’s seat, HD radio, power windows, and an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. The SEL adds push-button start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, and two more USB ports. The XRT adds unique black 19-inch alloy wheels, side steps, dark exterior trim, functional roof racks, and features from the SEL Convenience Package. The Limited adds dark chrome grille treatment, upgraded headlights, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, genuine leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, an upgraded Bose premium stereo system, and memory settings for the driver’s seat.
- Powertrain: The Tucson uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. It is described as fine for around-town driving, but it can feel slow when merging or passing, and it makes a lot of engine noise under hard acceleration.
- Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, driver attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Limited adds front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera system, Smart Park remote-parking, and a blind-spot camera system.
- Infotainment: The base system uses an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. Higher trims with the SEL Convenience Package, XRT, and Limited get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen and a fully digital instrument panel, but they lose wireless phone connectivity.
- Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model returns 25 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. The all-wheel-drive model returns 23 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined.
Which 2024 Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?
The 2024 Hyundai Tucson is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, XRT, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-inch touchscreen, and a strong standard safety suite. If you want the lowest entry price and the core Tucson experience, this is the trim to start with.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds push-button start, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat without jumping all the way to the top of the range. It’s the sweet spot if you want more comfort and convenience without paying for luxury extras.
- XRT: This trim is for you if you want the Tucson’s more rugged-looking appearance and the added equipment from the SEL Convenience Package, including synthetic leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a fully digital instrument panel, and a larger touchscreen with navigation. It stands out more for style and content than for a major mechanical upgrade.
- Limited: This is the most fully equipped version, with ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, genuine leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose premium stereo, memory settings, parking sensors, a 360-degree camera system, Smart Park, and a blind-spot camera system. Choose it if you want the most comfort and the most advanced parking tech.
The standard safety suite is strong across the lineup, while the Limited adds the most advanced parking and blind-spot features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Hyundai Tucson?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.
- Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 7,607 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.77% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 89.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,545.31, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?
The current average of $23,642 sits slightly below last year's $24,315.
That softer pricing suggests the Tucson has become a bit more buyer-friendly in the used market, which can work against a seller trying to maximize short-term return. At the same time, the model’s broad appeal, strong feature content, and solid owner satisfaction help support demand.
If you’re planning to sell later, the key is to keep the vehicle in clean condition and maintain documentation that shows it was cared for properly. A well-kept Tucson should remain attractive to shoppers who want value, space, and technology in a compact SUV.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson safe?
The 2024 Tucson earns Good results in most phases of IIHS crash testing, and it has an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ pedigree from the prior model year. It also earns five-star ratings in a frontal crash test and four-star ratings in a rollover test from NHTSA.
It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, driver attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Limited trim adds front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera system, Smart Park remote-parking, and a blind-spot camera system.
One caveat is that the standard headlights earn an Acceptable IIHS result, so lighting performance is not as strong as the rest of the safety package.
Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.77% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2024 model is presented as a well-rounded compact SUV with strong safety, useful tech, and a good-value proposition.
The bottom line: If you want a used Tucson that balances value, safety, space, and technology, the 2024 is the right place to start. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a slightly older example gives you a lower entry price with similar everyday usefulness.
