CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Hyundai Elantra
overall

Summary
With 6,202 currently listed for sale and an average price of $20,139.00, 31.6% of 2024 Hyundai Elantras for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Hyundai Elantra 3 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
85.7% of 2024 Elantra models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Hyundai Elantra stands out as a compact sedan that leans hard into style and versatility. It is described as the sportiest-looking and most versatile compact car on sale, and for 2024 it receives a mild refresh that adds more style and standard equipment. That combination gives it a stronger presence than the bargain-focused image Hyundai once had with the Elantra nameplate.
What makes this version appealing is that it is presented as a genuinely sporty, well-constructed car that competes on how it drives and feels, while still offering a wider range of trim levels. The available manual transmission adds to its enthusiast appeal, and the multiple powertrain options broaden its reach for buyers who want either efficiency or a more engaging setup. At the same time, the design may be polarizing, the base engine is called underwhelming, and the interior materials are said to feel cheap, so its strengths come with some clear tradeoffs.
Overall, the 2024 Hyundai Elantra is distinctive because it tries to be more than just inexpensive transportation. It aims to balance comfort, economy, and sportiness in a way that makes it feel more substantial than the old Elantra formula, even if some buyers may still be put off by the styling and cabin materials.

The car was a great value for the money I spent. It had plenty of features, and ultimately great MPG and price. I loved that it still has manufactuer warranty and is a certified-pre owned. I did wish it supported Hyundai's digital key, but the BlueLink is another phenomenal feature, other than having to pay every year. For other cars in this class such as the Civic, Corolla, Forte, K4, Impreza etc. It is reasonably priced, only competitive with the K4. If I wanted all of these features in one of those other vehicles especiallt the Civic I would be paying significantly more.

I live the interior and the way it drives. It feels very much my style and I can see myself driving it every day.

I was going to buy a new one except for a design I cannot live with. The passenger side grab bar is unsightly. If something falls on the floor, you wont be able to grab it at a stop light. It is located between the gear shift and the passenger side. Looks like a hospital bed rail. Pass. Drives great. Ive bought 4 Hyundais so I like them but I would rather go for an older model without the bar. Thats what I am looking for now.

2024 Hyundai Elantra Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2024 Hyundai Elantra prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2024 Hyundai Elantra cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $20,122 |
| Year-Round Low | $19,473.20 |
| Year-Round High | $21,015 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $21,015 |

Prices have softened 4.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 6,252 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $19,473.20, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra a good car?
It’s a mixed but appealing choice if you want a compact sedan that emphasizes style, versatility, and a broader range of trims than the typical budget commuter.
It earns 3/5 from users and 7.33/10 from our experts.
The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.
The 2024 Elantra is presented as a sporty, well-constructed car that competes on how it drives and feels, and it adds more style and standard equipment for 2024. That makes it especially appealing if you want a compact sedan that feels more substantial than a basic point-A-to-point-B car.
The trade-offs are clear: the design may be polarizing, the base engine is underwhelming, and the interior materials can feel cheap.
With 32.6% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra reliable?
The 2024 Elantra is positioned as a well-sorted compact sedan, and Hyundai backs it with three years of maintenance and a five-year/60,000-mile warranty on every Elantra.
Its expert evaluation also describes it as a genuinely sporty, well-constructed car that competes on substance, with a verdict that calls it comfortable, economical, sporty, and truly entertaining.
The performance write-up also points to a broad powertrain lineup, including efficient non-hybrid versions and stronger turbocharged options, which gives you flexibility depending on how you plan to use the car.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing the wrong trim for your needs, since the base setup is less satisfying than the stronger versions.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Elantra?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a proper inspection. Prioritize condition on the interior and exterior, since the cabin materials are described as cheap and the styling can hide wear differently depending on trim. If you’re comparing listings, focus on whether the car has the equipment you actually want rather than assuming every trim is similarly equipped.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE, SEL, and Limited lose the lowered stance and sporty bumpers that help the car look more distinctive, and the base SE also misses some of the custom gauge layouts found on upper trims.
- Powertrain: The common 2.0-liter four-cylinder with CVT is adequate around town but weak and loud on the highway; the turbocharged N Line is much quicker and more engaging.
- Safety package: The SE and N come standard with forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, a driver attention monitor, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and auto high beams. SEL trims with the Convenience Package and Limited trims add cyclist detection, front cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. The Limited adds rear emergency braking, a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.
- Infotainment: The SE gets an 8-inch touchscreen, while SEL-and-above trims get a 10.25-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not supported, and blind-spot cameras are available only on the Limited.
- Fuel efficiency: The SE is rated at 32/41/36 mpg, the SEL and Limited at 31/40/34 mpg, the N Line at 28/35/31 mpg, and the N at 21/29/24 mpg with the manual or 20/27/23 mpg with the automatic.
Which 2024 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?
The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 7 trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited, N Line, N, Hybrid Blue, Hybrid Limited.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The SE is the most stripped-down choice, with the smaller 8-inch touchscreen and fewer gauge customization features than upper trims.
- Sweet-spot trim: The SEL is the best value if you want the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen and a more complete equipment mix without jumping to the pricier trims.
- Premium/top trim: The Limited is the most fully equipped mainstream trim, adding blind-spot cameras, Highway Driving Assist, rear emergency braking, a 360-degree camera system, and parking sensors.
- Off-road trim: None of the trims are aimed at off-road use, so there isn’t a special daily-driver caution to weigh here.
The Limited also gets the most advanced safety and driver-assistance package in the lineup.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Hyundai Elantra?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 6,252 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.25% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 85.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $19,473.20, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?
The current average of $20,122 sits slightly below last year's $21,015.
That softer pricing suggests the used market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can help you get in at a better number today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect some depreciation pressure if you buy near the current average and try to resell soon.
The good news is that the Elantra still has broad appeal thanks to its styling, efficiency, and trim variety. If you buy the right version and keep it in strong condition, that should help support resale better than a bare-bones, less desirable configuration.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra safe?
The 2024 Elantra received a five star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and was named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
The SE and N come standard with forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, a driver attention monitor, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and auto high beams. SEL trims with the Convenience Package and Limited trims add cyclist detection and front cross-traffic alert, plus adaptive cruise control. The Limited adds rear emergency braking, a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.
There are also some caveats to keep in mind: IIHS did not perform all of its standard crash tests, and the new frontal crash test showed worse results than the 2021 Elantra. Rear passengers had a higher risk of injury despite added rear side airbags, and there are no frontal knee airbags.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra reliable?
The 2024 Elantra is described as a well-constructed compact sedan that balances comfort, economy, and sportiness, and Hyundai includes three years of maintenance plus a five-year/60,000-mile warranty.
Its expert evaluation also emphasizes that it competes on how it drives and feels, which is a good sign for long-term satisfaction if you want a car that feels more substantial than a basic commuter.
The performance notes reinforce that the lineup is broad, with efficient mainstream trims and stronger turbocharged versions, so you can choose a setup that better matches your ownership priorities.
For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is ending up with a trim that feels underpowered or less refined than you expected.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Elantra?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still prioritize a full inspection, especially if you’re considering a lower-priced listing or a higher-mileage example. Focus on body condition, cabin wear, and whether the equipment level matches the trim you want. A clean history report is important, but it should be paired with a close look at the car’s actual condition.
Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.25% compared with last year.
- It adds more style and standard equipment while leaning into a broader, more versatile lineup.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $19,594, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $20,122 average.
- It is roomy and efficient.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall package, the 2024 is the better target because it brings more style, more equipment, and a broader trim range. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2023 is the smarter value play, especially if you find a clean example with the features you need.
