Used 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD for Sale nearSanta Fe, NM

How much does the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 8.15% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,456 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

Generally — 4.2/5 from owners and 8.00/10 from expert testing. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its capability, professional-grade feel, and value, while also calling out its impressive features. In use, that lines up with the truck’s strong towing focus, upscale presentation, and work-ready equipment. The main trade-offs are its fuel thirst and the fact that it can feel cumbersome when parking, and the near-twin Chevrolet Silverado HD is noted as being cheaper. For you, that means this is best if you want a heavy-duty truck that leans luxury and capability rather than a simpler, lower-cost workhorse.

36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a truck that feels capable and dependable in day-to-day use, with buyers appreciating its professional-grade character and overall value. The expert drive notes reinforce that impression by describing the powertrain as refined, with smooth acceleration and a transmission that stays in the right gear without hunting. The cost-effectiveness notes also suggest a practical upside for ownership, since the diesel setup can stretch fuel economy on the highway and the large fuel tank helps with long-distance driving between fill-ups.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that heavy-duty trucks can be expensive to keep in top shape, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on trucks that have been used for towing or hauling. Focus on wear items, signs of hard use, and whether the truck’s luxury and trailering equipment all work as intended. If you’re shopping a diesel example, pay extra attention to how it starts, idles, and shifts under load.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Denali Ultimate is the top trim and comes with nearly every available option, including a six-passenger Crew Cab, standard LED headlights and taillights, sequential turn signals, and the MultiPro Tailgate. Lower trims will leave you with fewer luxury touches and less of the upscale presentation that defines this version.
• Powertrain: The Denali Ultimate uses a 6.6-liter Duramax turbocharged diesel V8 with 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission and standard four-wheel drive. It also adds a locking rear differential, two-speed transfer case, all-terrain tires, heavy-duty air filter, underbody skid plates, hill descent control, and a diesel exhaust brake.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera, pedestrian detection, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and a rear-facing cargo bed camera.
• Infotainment: The Denali Ultimate gets a 13.4-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless device charging, Google built-in, a 15-inch multi-color head-up display, a 12-speaker Bose surround-sound audio system, and split-screen navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: During long highway stints, the diesel was observed to stretch as much as 21 miles from each gallon of diesel, while suburban and city driving could dip into the single digits.

Which 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD trim should I buy?

The 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD is offered in 6 trim levels: Pro, SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali, Denali Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Pro: This is the entry point if you want the Sierra HD’s core heavy-duty capability without paying for luxury extras. It makes sense if your priority is work-truck utility and you plan to add only the options you truly need.
• SLE: This is the value-minded step up if you want a better balance of equipment and price than the Pro. It should suit you if you want a more comfortable daily driver without jumping into the premium trims.
• SLT: This is the trim to consider if you want a more polished cabin and more convenience features while staying below the luxury-focused upper end. It’s a sensible middle ground for buyers who want comfort and capability in equal measure.
• AT4: This is the choice if you want a more rugged personality and off-road-oriented hardware. It fits you best if your truck life includes rougher terrain or you want a more adventurous look and setup.
• Denali: This is the luxury-focused trim for buyers who want a premium cabin and upscale presentation without going all the way to the top. It’s the right pick if comfort matters as much as towing and hauling.
• Denali Ultimate: This is the best-value trim only if you want the most luxurious, most fully equipped Sierra HD and are willing to pay for it. It adds nearly every available feature and is the trim to buy if you want the full upscale experience.

The safety package includes standard active safety features across the lineup, but the Denali Ultimate is the most comprehensively equipped version in this model year.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

If you find a listing below $65,016, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $65,016 sits slightly below last year's $70,787.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out. If you’re planning to resell later, the current trend implies that depreciation has already moved in your favor as a shopper, though heavy-duty trucks can still hold appeal when they’re well equipped and well maintained. Trucks with desirable equipment and strong condition should remain easier to move than stripped or heavily worn examples.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD safe?

The 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes standard with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera, pedestrian detection, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and a rear-facing cargo bed camera. The extra-large power-operated side mirrors also help visibility, especially when you’re maneuvering a truck this size.

Should I buy a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 model year adds the Denali Ultimate at the top of the lineup, giving you a newly introduced luxury-heavy option with nearly every available feature.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version with the most upscale trim and a market that has softened from last year, the 2024 is the cleanest path. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby year may still make sense, but you’ll want to compare equipment carefully because the 2024’s top trim is a major part of its appeal.
