Used 2024 Ford Ranger for Sale nearVirginia Beach, VA

How much does the 2024 Ford Ranger cost?

Prices have softened 7.32% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,266 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Ford Ranger a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Ranger earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

It stands out as an all-new midsize pickup with more powertrain choice, more tech, and a more refined driving feel than before. The overview and test-drive notes point to a truck that is quieter and more comfortable on the road than many rivals, while still giving you real capability and a broader lineup to choose from.

The main trade-offs are that the interior materials feel cheap and the touchscreen response is sluggish. Advanced safety features are also not standard, so you should expect to shop carefully by trim if those matter to you.

Good and great deals account for 33.1% of listings, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you compare carefully.

Is the 2024 Ford Ranger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Ranger’s overall pitch is durability through capability: it offers multiple powertrains, strong towing and payload numbers, and a quiet, comfortable road manner. The expert notes also describe the base turbo four-cylinder as swift and smooth, which supports the idea that the truck is built to handle daily use without feeling strained.

Ford also positions the Ranger as a more modern midsize truck than the previous version, with added refinement and choice. On the ownership side, that means you’re looking at a truck that should feel well-rounded for commuting, hauling, and towing, though the cheaper-feeling cabin materials are a reminder to inspect wear closely on used examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Ranger?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the truck’s equipment matches the trim and package claims in the listing. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that was used for towing, off-road driving, or heavy daily work. Pay close attention to cabin condition, touchscreen behavior, and any signs that the truck’s features were not maintained as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL is the most stripped-down version, and it does not include driver assists. The XLT and above add more convenience and safety equipment, while the Lariat brings a more upscale feel with features like a wider instrument panel and push-button start.
• Powertrain: You get a standard 2.3-liter turbo inline-four with 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, plus an optional 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 with 315 horsepower and 400 pound-feet. The Raptor uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet.
• Safety package: The XLT and above include standard forward and reverse emergency braking, auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, front cross-traffic braking, and evasive steering assist. Adaptive cruise control is optional on the XLT and standard on Lariat and Raptor.
• Infotainment: A 10-inch portrait touchscreen is standard on the XL, while a 12-inch screen comes on all other trims. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, but the menus are slow to load and BlueCruise handsfree driving assist is not available.
• Fuel efficiency: The base four-cylinder with 4WD is rated at 20 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined, while the V6 is rated at 19/23/20.

Which 2024 Ford Ranger trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Ranger is offered in 4 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, Raptor.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the entry point, but it is the most bare-bones choice because it lacks driver assists. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with a simpler setup.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the key safety equipment and a more complete feature set without jumping all the way to the pricier luxury-oriented trims.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want a more polished daily driver, since it adds convenience tech like push-button start, a wider instrument panel, and more advanced parking and trailer-assist features.
• Raptor: This is the specialty choice if you want the most serious off-road character and the strongest performance hardware in the lineup.

The safety-package note is important here: the base XL does not come with any driver assists, while the XLT and above do.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Ranger?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,266 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.32% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,499, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Ranger's resale value?

The current average of $38,499 sits slightly below last year's $41,539.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, the key question is whether the Ranger’s broader appeal and strong capability can stabilize demand after this softer pricing period.

Because the truck offers multiple powertrains, a quiet cabin, and a more refined feel than before, well-equipped examples should remain easier to market than stripped-down ones. Condition will matter a lot, though, especially given the interior quality concerns and the importance of trim-level equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Ranger safe?

The 2024 Ranger has not been crash-tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and previous model years tested by NHTSA and IIHS are not comparable.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The Ranger’s safety equipment is strongest on the XLT and above, where you get standard forward and reverse emergency braking, auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, front cross-traffic braking, and evasive steering assist. Adaptive cruise control is optional on the XLT and standard on Lariat and Raptor.

The main caveat is that the base XL does not come with any driver assists, so safety-minded used buyers should avoid assuming every Ranger is equally equipped.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Ranger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 Ranger brings more of everything, including power, tech, refinement, space, and choice.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern-feeling Ranger in this price band, the 2024 is the better path because it adds more choice and a more polished driving experience. If you’re mainly focused on minimizing purchase cost, a different year may be worth considering, but the 2024 gives you a stronger mix of capability, refinement, and market availability.
