How much does the 2024 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 9,819 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2024 Ford Explorer a good car?

The 2024 Ford Explorer is a balanced choice if you want a midsize three-row SUV with a stronger driving character than many rivals, and its 3/5 user rating suggests a mixed but workable ownership experience. The Explorer’s broad feature set, available performance, and flexible seating for up to seven passengers make it especially relevant if you want family utility without giving up a more composed road feel. It also offers a six-passenger layout with second-row captain’s chairs if easier third-row access matters to you. With 33.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitively priced example.

Is the 2024 Ford Explorer reliable?

The 2024 Ford Explorer is presented as a well-rounded midsize SUV with a modern platform, smooth refinement, and a strong feature set. Its current-generation setup and broad equipment list support everyday usability, while the available powertrains give you flexibility depending on how you plan to drive it. For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is best managed by focusing on maintenance history and overall condition, especially if you plan to keep the vehicle for many years.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Explorer?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the listing matches the seller’s claims on ownership, service, and prior damage. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the drivetrain, electronics, and interior condition, since those are the areas that can affect long-term satisfaction most. If you’re comparing multiple examples, focus on the cleanest-maintained vehicle rather than chasing the lowest sticker price alone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Explorer?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,819 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,995, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $34,224 sits slightly above last year's $34,210.

That small increase suggests the Explorer has held its value fairly well in the near term. For a future seller, that kind of stability can help reduce the risk of a sharp depreciation hit if you buy at a reasonable price. It also means condition and mileage will matter a lot when it’s time to resell, since the market is already showing a fairly narrow price band.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $39,602, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $34,224 average.
• It adds updated infotainment, improved interior quality, and bolder styling.

The bottom line:
You should lean toward the 2024 if you want the better value and a broad pool of clean, fairly priced listings. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer-feeling cabin and updated tech, the 2025 is the stronger upgrade path. Price-sensitive buyers should start with the 2024 and only move up if the newer model’s improvements are worth the premium to you.
