How much does the 2024 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 9,793 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2024 Ford Explorer a good car?

The 2024 Ford Explorer is a balanced choice if you want a midsize SUV that leans more family-focused and more composed on the road than older Explorer generations. It rides on the CD6 platform with a rear-wheel-drive bias, which helps it feel more engaging to drive, and it offers flexible seating for up to seven passengers.

Its appeal also comes from a broad feature set, including a 13.2-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Ford Co-Pilot360, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. With a user rating of 3/5, it looks like a practical pick for shoppers who value capability, technology, and available performance over a more premium cabin experience.

36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Ford Explorer reliable?

The 2024 Ford Explorer is presented as a well-rounded midsize SUV with a strong feature set and a more refined driving character than earlier, truck-based versions. Its current-generation platform and broad equipment list support its appeal for everyday family use.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that you should still budget for careful maintenance and condition checks, especially if you plan to keep the SUV for many years.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Explorer?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with a long option list. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior damage, and whether the technology, seating, and drivetrain all work as expected.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,793 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,040, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $34,305 sits slightly below last year's $34,370.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable, which can help you avoid overpaying today. For a future seller, steady pricing is a good sign because it points to predictable demand rather than a sharp drop in value.

If you keep the SUV in strong condition and buy near the lower end of the range, you should be in a better position when it comes time to resell.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $39,832, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $34,305 average.
• It adds updated infotainment, improved interior quality, and bolder styling.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2024 if you want the better value and a broader pool of listings to choose from. If you want the newer design, upgraded cabin, and more modern tech, the 2025 is the stronger upgrade path, but it costs notably more. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2024 is the more practical buy.
