How much does the 2024 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 9,790 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Ford Explorer a good car?

The 2024 Ford Explorer is a balanced choice if you want a midsize three-row SUV with a broad feature set, available performance, and flexible seating. Its user rating is 3/5, and the model’s appeal centers on its family-focused role, composed driving character, and available six- or seven-passenger layouts.

The Explorer’s current-generation platform gives it a rear-wheel-drive bias that improves handling compared with older versions, while the standard equipment list is strong for the class. You also get a modern cabin setup with a large touchscreen, digital gauge cluster, wireless smartphone integration, and Ford Co-Pilot360 features.

With 36.5% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a meaningful number of opportunities to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Ford Explorer reliable?

The 2024 Ford Explorer is presented as a well-rounded midsize SUV with a strong feature set and a more composed driving feel than earlier versions. Its current-generation layout and broad equipment list support everyday usability, and it remains aimed at buyers who want a modern family hauler with available performance.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that you should still verify condition carefully, since a feature-rich SUV can be more expensive to sort out if prior maintenance was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Explorer?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and confirm the vehicle’s maintenance record before you commit. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin electronics, driver-assistance features, and overall wear, since this model’s value depends heavily on condition and equipment working as intended. Focus on examples that show consistent upkeep and clean presentation inside and out.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,790 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,048, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $34,366 sits slightly below last year's $34,406.

That small decline suggests the market has been stable rather than volatile, which can help future sellers plan more confidently. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should have a reasonable path to resale without facing a sharp value drop from short-term market swings. The key is to avoid overpaying now, since resale strength is helped most by buying near the lower end of the range.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $39,972, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $34,366 average.
• It adds updated infotainment, improved interior quality, and bolder styling.

The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the stronger value play and a broad pool of listings to compare. Consider the 2025 if you want the newer tech and interior upgrades and are willing to pay more for them. If price matters most, the 2024 is the easier recommendation; if you want the more modern-feeling SUV, the 2025 is the better target.
