How much does the 2024 Ford Escape cost?

Prices have softened 4.83% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,542 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Escape earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

It fits best if you want a well-equipped compact crossover with multiple powertrain options, a comfortable ride, and impressive technology. The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, cargo space is uncompetitive, and value for money is weak.

Deal availability is decent at 33.4% good or great deals, so you have room to shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Escape’s appeal comes from its broad powertrain range, comfortable driving character, and strong technology suite. Its powertrain lineup includes efficient hybrid and turbocharged options, and the turbo setup is described as quick in everyday use.

The hybrid is presented as the more cost-conscious choice, and the model’s standard equipment and available tech help it feel well rounded. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the cabin materials and overall value proposition may age less gracefully than the mechanical basics.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Escape?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re looking at a higher-trim example with more equipment. Focus on interior condition, tech functionality, and whether the vehicle’s features match the trim level you’re paying for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-in Hybrid. The Base trim appears to be canceled, and lower trims use a smaller 8-inch display, while upper trims get a 12.3-inch display and more upscale equipment.
• Powertrain: You can find a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque, a 192-horsepower hybrid expected to return 39 mpg in combined driving, and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 250 horsepower, 280 pound-feet of torque, and 26 mpg in combined driving.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, and post-collision automatic braking. Higher trims can add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, predictive speed assist, evasive steering assist, lane-centering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get an 8-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, and FordPass Connect with Wi-Fi hotspot access. Upper trims add a 13.2-inch touchscreen, Amazon Alexa, and a complimentary three-year connected navigation subscription.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is rated at up to 39 mpg in combined driving, while the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine averages 26 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2024 Ford Escape trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Escape is offered in 6 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-in Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the most straightforward choice if you want the Escape’s core comfort and tech without paying for the pricier turbo-focused trims. It also avoids the value concerns that show up higher in the lineup.
• ST-Line: This is the best-value trim if you want the hybrid powertrain, since the hybrid is tied to this trim and is the strongest efficiency play in the range.
• ST-Line Select: This trim adds more equipment and the 2.0-liter turbo setup, but the content suggests the turbo engine is not the best value for most shoppers.
• ST-Line Elite: This is the loaded sporty trim, with the larger display, more upscale tech, and available premium equipment, but it is also the one most clearly called out as expensive for what it delivers.
• Platinum: This trim sits near the top of the range and is aimed at shoppers who want a more premium-feeling Escape with the available upscale features.
• Plug-in Hybrid: This is the efficiency-focused choice if you want electric-only driving range and lots of standard equipment, though it comes only with front-wheel drive.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but some of the more advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for higher trims or packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Escape?

The market looks moderately favorable if you’re a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,542 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.83% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,257, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Escape's resale value?

The current average of $22,874 sits slightly below last year's $24,035.

That price movement suggests the Escape has softened enough to give used buyers some leverage today. For a future seller, that means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, trim, and equipment rather than on broad market momentum.

The model’s broad appeal and strong user satisfaction help support demand, but its weaker value reputation may limit upside compared with stronger rivals. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold attention better than higher-priced, lightly differentiated trims.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape safe?

The 2024 Escape earns five-star ratings across the board, aside from a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, and post-collision automatic braking. Higher trims can add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, predictive speed assist, evasive steering assist, lane-centering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.

One caveat is that the lane-keeping systems and predictive speed assist were not always smooth in testing, and some advanced functions can be frustrating in real-world use.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Escape or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Ford says the 2024 Escape carries over the 2023 makeover with no major changes.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,987, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $22,874 average.
• It offers strong available performance and a tech-forward approach.

The bottom line: If you want the better current-market value and a familiar, well-equipped Escape, the 2024 is the cleaner pick. If you’re shopping strictly by price and find a well-kept 2023 with the right equipment, that can still make sense, but the 2024’s softer pricing and strong inventory make it the easier year to target first.
