How much does the 2024 Ford Escape cost?

Prices have softened 4.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,671 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Escape earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

The 2024 Ford Escape is a familiar compact crossover with a current design rather than a fresh redesign, and it leans on variety, comfort, and technology. It offers multiple powertrain options, is described as comfortable, and brings impressive technology.

The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, cargo space is uncompetitive, and it is considered poor value for money. That makes it a better fit if you want a comfortable, tech-forward commuter than if you prioritize maximum utility or bargain pricing.

The market shows 37.8% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Ford Escape is presented as a familiar, carryover model with no major changes after a substantial update in 2023. Its expert evaluation also points to a comfortable, everyday-friendly character, which supports the idea that it should be easy to live with over time.

The turbocharged setup is described as quick, and the AWD system includes a driveline disconnect feature to help improve fuel economy. That said, the model’s value proposition is weak, so long-term ownership risk for used buyers is less about durability than about whether you’ll feel you paid too much for what you got.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Escape?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and focus on condition, especially if you’re comparing higher-trim examples with more equipment. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing on any used Escape with advanced tech or driver-assistance features, since those systems add complexity.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-in Hybrid. The base trim appears to be canceled, so you should pay close attention to how much equipment you’re getting as you move up the range.
• Powertrain: You can find a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque, a 192-horsepower hybrid, or a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The turbo 2.0-liter is quick, but the hybrid is the efficiency play.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trims can add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, predictive speed assist, evasive steering assist, lane-centering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: Lower trims use an 8-inch display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, and FordPass Connect services. Upper trims get a 12.3-inch display, and the 13.2-inch Sync 4 system adds Amazon Alexa and a complimentary three-year subscription to connected navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is rated to return up to 39 mpg in combined driving, while the turbocharged 2.0-liter averages 26 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2024 Ford Escape trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Escape is offered in 6 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-in Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the entry point if you want the Escape’s core comfort and tech without paying for the pricier performance-oriented or luxury-leaning trims. It’s the sensible starting point if you mainly want the model’s everyday usability.
• ST-Line: This is the best-value trim if you want the hybrid powertrain, because the cost-effectiveness content says you need to upgrade to ST-Line to get it. It also keeps the Escape’s comfortable, tech-forward character while giving you access to the efficiency-focused setup.
• ST-Line Select: This trim adds the sporty appearance theme and the stronger turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, but the expert notes suggest that engine is wasted here for most buyers. It makes sense only if you specifically want the extra power and the look.
• ST-Line Elite: This is the loaded version, with the larger display, premium tech, and available upscale equipment. It suits you if you want the most features, but it also lands in the part of the range where value becomes harder to justify.
• Platinum: This trim sits near the top of the gas lineup and is part of the group the expert recommends skipping if you’re choosing the turbo 2.0-liter route. It’s for shoppers who want a more premium-feeling Escape and are willing to pay for it.
• Plug-in Hybrid: This is the efficiency-focused choice if you want electric-only driving range and lots of standard equipment. It’s the right pick if your priority is maximizing fuel savings and you can live with front-wheel drive.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, and higher trims can add more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Escape?

The market looks moderately favorable if you’re a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,671 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,257, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Escape's resale value?

The current average of $22,837 sits slightly below last year's $23,980.

That price movement suggests the Escape has softened enough to help used buyers today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if the market keeps drifting downward. If you buy at the right price now, you can reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape safe?

The 2024 Ford Escape earns five-star ratings across the board, aside from a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trims can add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, predictive speed assist, evasive steering assist, lane-centering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.

The safety caveat is that the lane-keeping systems and predictive speed assist were inconsistent in testing, and the adaptive cruise control and lane-centering systems shut down at one point. That doesn’t erase the strong crash-test picture, but it does mean you should pay attention to how the driver-assistance tech behaves on a test drive.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Escape or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Prices have softened 4.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It carries over the 2023 update, so you get the current design and tech without waiting for a redesign.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,926, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $22,837 average.
• It offers an upscale, tech-forward feel with a handsome design.

The bottom line: If you want the current Escape with softened pricing and strong inventory, the 2024 is the better default choice. If you’re shopping strictly on price, the 2023 can still make sense, but you’re not getting a lower average price than the 2024 right now.
