How much does the 2024 Ford Escape cost?

Prices have softened 4.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,774 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Escape earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

The 2024 Escape is a familiar compact crossover with a current design rather than a fresh redesign, and it leans on variety and everyday comfort. It offers multiple powertrain options, is described as comfortable, and brings impressive technology.

The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, cargo space is uncompetitive, and value for money is weak. Even so, the market shows 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Escape is presented as a familiar, carryover model with no major changes after its 2023 makeover, which can be reassuring if you want a known quantity. Its standard and available technology is extensive, and the powertrain lineup gives you multiple ways to match performance and efficiency to your needs.

The performance notes point to a turbocharged setup that delivers quick acceleration, while the hybrid is positioned as the more cost-conscious choice. If you want lower ownership stress, the hybrid’s efficiency and the model’s established design are the most reassuring parts of the package.

If you buy used, the main long-term risk is paying too much for a trim that doesn’t deliver enough value for the money.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Escape?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re looking at a higher-trim or heavily optioned example. Focus on interior condition, technology operation, and whether the vehicle’s equipment matches the asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-in Hybrid. The base trim appears to be dropped, so you should compare equipment carefully because lower trims use an 8-inch display while upper trims get a 12.3-inch display, and the loaded versions add more upscale materials and tech.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque, a 192-horsepower hybrid expected to get 39 mpg in combined driving, or a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 250 horsepower, 280 pound-feet of torque, and 26 mpg in combined driving.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, and post-collision automatic braking. Higher trims can add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, predictive speed assist, evasive steering assist, lane-centering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: Lower trims use an 8-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, and FordPass Connect with Wi-Fi hotspot access. Upper trims get a 13.2-inch touchscreen with Amazon Alexa and a three-year connected-navigation subscription.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is rated to return up to 39 mpg in combined driving, while the turbocharged 2.0-liter setup averages 26 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2024 Ford Escape trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Escape is offered in 6 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-in Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the most straightforward choice if you want the Escape’s core comfort and technology without paying for the pricier turbocharged upgrades. It pairs well with the 1.5-liter engine and is the trim to start with if you want the most accessible path into the lineup.
• ST-Line: This is the best-value trim if you want the hybrid powertrain, since the cost-effectiveness content points to the hybrid as the smarter efficiency play. It also gives you the sportier look without pushing you into the more expensive turbocharged versions.
• ST-Line Select: This trim adds more equipment and can be paired with the stronger 2.0-liter turbo, but the expert notes say that engine is wasted here from a value standpoint. It makes sense only if you specifically want the extra power and are comfortable paying for it.
• ST-Line Elite: This is the loaded sporty trim, with the larger display, premium tech, and available upscale touches like the Premium Technology Package. It suits you if you want the most features, but it is also the trim most clearly called out as expensive for what it delivers.
• Platinum: This is the more upscale choice in the gas lineup, but the expert notes still question the value of the 2.0-liter turbo at this price point. Buy it only if you want the premium feel and are willing to pay for it.
• Plug-in Hybrid: This is the efficiency-focused choice if you want electric-only driving range and lots of standard equipment. It is the trim to consider if your priorities are fuel savings and daily commuting flexibility.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard across the lineup, while higher trims add more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Escape?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,774 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,253, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Escape's resale value?

The current average of $22,744 sits slightly below last year's $23,865.

That decline suggests the Escape is currently in a softer pricing environment, which can help you buy more carefully now but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you’re a future seller, the current trend means you should expect the market to be more price-sensitive than it was a year ago.

The good news is that the model still has broad appeal thanks to its comfort, technology, and multiple powertrain choices. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape safe?

The 2024 Escape earns five-star ratings across the board, aside from a four-star rollover resistance rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, and post-collision automatic braking. Higher trims can add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, predictive speed assist, evasive steering assist, lane-centering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.

One caveat is that the IIHS has not rated the 2024 model, though the 2023 version earned Good ratings except for a Marginal score in a new side-impact safety test.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Escape or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It carries over the 2023 makeover and adds no major changes, so you’re shopping a familiar, current design.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,743, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $22,744 average.
• It offers an upscale, tech-forward feel with strong safety and infotainment tech.

The bottom line: If you want the most current version of the Escape with strong inventory and softer pricing, the 2024 is the better default choice. If you’re focused on shaving every dollar and the equipment mix still fits your needs, the 2023 is a sensible alternative.
