How much does the 2024 Ford Escape cost?

Prices have softened 4.61% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,595 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Escape earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

The 2024 Escape is a familiar compact crossover with a current design rather than a fresh redesign, and it leans on variety, comfort, and technology to stay relevant. Its multiple powertrain options and impressive tech make it appealing if you want an easygoing daily driver with a lot of equipment.

The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, cargo space is uncompetitive, and value for money is weak. Even so, the market still shows 35.6% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Escape is described as a familiar, carryover model after a substantial 2023 update, which can be reassuring if you prefer a proven setup over a brand-new redesign. Its standard and available technology is extensive, and the powertrain lineup gives you flexibility depending on how you plan to use it.

The turbocharged gas engine is described as quick, and the hybrid is positioned as the more cost-conscious choice. Ford also includes a driveline disconnect feature on AWD models to help improve fuel economy.

If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Escape’s value proposition is not especially strong, so condition and price matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Escape?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing higher-mileage examples or heavily optioned trims. Focus on interior condition, since the cabin materials are a known weak point, and make sure the equipment on the listing matches the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-in Hybrid, and the Base trim appears to be dropped. Lower trims use an 8-inch display, while upper trims get a 12.3-inch display and more upscale equipment, so base-level feature gaps matter if you want the nicer tech presentation.
• Powertrain: You can shop a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with 180 horsepower or a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 250 horsepower. The hybrid is the efficiency play, while the turbo four is quicker but not the best value choice.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trims can add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, predictive speed assist, evasive steering assist, lane-centering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get an 8-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, and FordPass Connect with Wi-Fi hotspot access. Upper trims add a 13.2-inch touchscreen, Amazon Alexa, and a complimentary three-year subscription to connected navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is rated to return up to 39 mpg in combined driving, while the turbocharged 2.0-liter gas engine averages 26 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2024 Ford Escape trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Escape is offered in 6 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-in Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the most straightforward choice if you want the Escape’s core formula without paying for the pricier appearance and tech upgrades. It should suit you if you value the model’s comfort and variety more than premium features.
• ST-Line: This is the best-value trim if you want the hybrid powertrain, because it’s the entry point for that efficiency-focused setup. It also gives you the sporty look without pushing you into the more expensive turbo-four trims.
• ST-Line Select: This trim adds more equipment and a sportier presentation, but the content suggests the turbocharged 2.0-liter setup is not the best value. It makes sense if you want more features and don’t mind paying for them.
• ST-Line Elite: This is the loaded gas model, with the larger display, premium tech, and available upscale touches. It suits you if you want the most equipment, but it is not the value pick.
• Platinum: This trim sits near the top of the gas lineup and is best for shoppers who want a more premium-feeling Escape. The content still points to weaker overall value than the hybrid route.
• Plug-in Hybrid: This is the efficiency-focused choice if you want standard equipment and more than 35 miles of electric-only driving range. It makes the most sense if you can use charging and want a more specialized setup.

Ford’s standard Co-Pilot360 safety suite is a strong baseline, and higher trims add more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Escape?

The market looks moderately favorable if you’re a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,595 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.61% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,252, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Escape's resale value?

The current average of $22,687 sits slightly below last year's $23,784.

That decline suggests the Escape has softened in the used market, which can work against future sellers if prices keep drifting lower. If you buy now, you may be starting from a more favorable entry point than a year ago, but resale upside still depends heavily on trim, mileage, and condition.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape safe?

The 2024 Escape earns five-star ratings across the board, aside from a four-star rollover resistance rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trims can add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, predictive speed assist, evasive steering assist, lane-centering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.

One caveat is that the lane-keeping systems and predictive speed assist were not always smooth in testing, and some driver-assistance features can be intrusive in certain conditions.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Escape or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Ford says the 2024 Escape carries over the 2023 update and appears to drop the Base trim.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,645, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $22,687 average.
• It offers an upscale, tech-forward feel with strong safety and infotainment tech.

The bottom line: If you want the current-year Escape with a softer price trend and strong inventory, the 2024 is the cleaner choice. If you’re focused mainly on saving a little more upfront, the 2023 is worth a look because it delivers a similar core package for slightly less money.
