Used 2024 BMW X5 for Sale nearNorwell, MA

How much does the 2024 BMW X5 cost?

Prices have softened 9.44% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,444 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 BMW X5 earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth hybrid performance, impressive technology, and comfort. The X5 also gets credit for hands-free driving capability and electric range, which broadens its appeal if you want everyday efficiency without giving up a luxury-SUV driving feel.

The trade-offs are clear: voice recognition is a weak point, and the X5 does not stand out as a value play. It fits you best if you want a luxury midsize SUV that emphasizes driving enjoyment, premium materials, and a polished cabin over bargain pricing.

Only 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than deeply discounted.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with repeated praise for comfort, smooth hybrid operation, and technology that owners enjoy living with over time. The expert evaluation also notes that BMW’s plug-in hybrid setup delivers strong real-world usefulness, and the model’s complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles helps reduce early ownership friction.

That said, this is still a premium SUV with complex systems, so long-term ownership risk is more about repair costs and feature complexity than basic durability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 BMW X5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-spec example with larger wheels, advanced driver aids, or the plug-in hybrid powertrain. Focus on tire condition, brake wear, software behavior, and whether the features you want are actually present on the specific vehicle you’re shopping.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X5’s styling has aged well, but the M Sport treatment is not universally loved, and the optional 21-inch wheel package adds visual appeal at the cost of pricier tire replacement. The cabin also gets a more modern look for 2024 thanks to the BMW Curved Display and reduced physical switchgear.
• Powertrain: You can shop turbocharged inline-six models, a turbo-six plug-in hybrid, a turbocharged V8, or the high-performance turbo V8 variant. The plug-in hybrid is the standout for buyers who want strong acceleration and meaningful electric-only driving range.
• Safety package: Highway Assistant is the named hands-free driving system, and it works best in dense slow traffic or light higher-speed traffic. It is not fully seamless in all conditions, and the X5’s advanced safety features are not standard.
• Infotainment: The BMW Curved Display combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel with a 14.9-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, over-the-air updates, and BMW Operating System 8.5 are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid is rated at 22 mpg in combined driving once the gasoline engine is running, and BMW says it can travel about 38 miles on electricity alone. In testing, it returned 38.8 mpg on a mixed route.

Which 2024 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2024 BMW X5 is offered in 4 trim levels: sDrive40i, xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i.

Here's the short version:

• sDrive40i: This is the entry point if you want the X5 experience at the lowest starting price. It gives you the core luxury-SUV formula, but you’ll want to compare it carefully against the xDrive40i if all-wheel drive matters to you.
• xDrive40i: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds BMW’s all-wheel-drive system while keeping the six-cylinder setup. If you want the broadest balance of capability and everyday usability, this is the trim to focus on first.
• xDrive50e: This is the one to buy if you want the most compelling mix of performance and efficiency. It is the favorite version in testing, and it suits you best if you can take advantage of electric-only driving and home charging.
• M60i: This is the choice for buyers who want the V8 experience and are willing to pay for it. It sits at the top of the mainstream lineup for power and performance.

BMW’s Highway Assistant is available for 2024, but advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 BMW X5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare options but not so much discounting that every listing is a bargain.

• Deal availability: 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,444 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.44% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $50,871, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $50,871 sits slightly below last year's $56,174.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one, the current trend points to softer near-term resale conditions than a year ago, especially if your vehicle lacks desirable equipment or has higher mileage.

On the other hand, the X5’s strong reputation for comfort, performance, and premium feel helps support demand. Well-equipped examples with the right powertrain and clean history should hold buyer interest better than less desirable configurations.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 safe?

The 2024 BMW X5 earns an overall four-star crash-test rating from NHTSA, and IIHS gave it high ratings, though lower headlight ratings kept it from earning an IIHS safety award.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW’s Highway Assistant is the headline driver-assistance feature for 2024. It works with Assisted Driving Plus cruise control mode and uses clear visual indicators on the digital display and head-up display when it is ready to take over. Standard behavior is subtle and sophisticated much of the time, but the system can brake unexpectedly in some traffic situations.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you should verify exactly which driver-assistance equipment is installed on the specific vehicle you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2024 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 update adds Highway Assistant and a more modern cabin layout.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $57,299, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $50,871 average.
• It mainly adds a 25th-anniversary limited edition.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and the more compelling shopping environment, the 2024 is the smarter pick. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year with minimal changes, the 2025 is fine, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2024 and shop carefully for the right trim and equipment.
