Used 2024 BMW X5 for Sale nearHarrisburg, PA

How much does the 2024 BMW X5 cost?

Prices have softened 8.79% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,424 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 BMW X5 earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth hybrid performance, impressive technology, and comfort. The X5 also gets credit for features like hands-free driving and electric range, which make it appealing if you want a luxury SUV that feels useful in everyday driving.

The trade-offs are clear: voice recognition is poor, advanced safety features are not standard, and it does not stand out as a strong value play. That matters most if you want maximum equipment for the money rather than a driving-focused luxury SUV.

For you, the X5 makes the most sense if you want a premium midsize SUV that balances comfort, performance, and practicality. Good and great deals account for 41.4% of listings, so there is some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners’ feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on smooth hybrid operation, comfort, and technology that works well enough to be a highlight. The review summary also suggests the X5 delivers the kind of long-term ownership experience buyers expect when they want a premium SUV they can count on.

BMW’s performance notes reinforce that impression by describing the plug-in hybrid system as a strong, well-integrated setup with useful electric range and efficient hybrid operation. The complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles also helps reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is cost: this is still a premium BMW, so repairs, tires, and out-of-warranty upkeep can be expensive.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 BMW X5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-spec examples with more equipment and larger wheels. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the features you care about actually work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X5 is available with a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, a turbo-six plug-in hybrid powertrain, a turbocharged V8 engine, and a high-performance turbo V8 variant. The six-cylinder and plug-in hybrid models offer Sport and M Sport trim packages, and the M Sport treatment changes the look in a way not everyone will love.
• Powertrain: You can shop versions with a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, a turbo-six PHEV setup, a turbocharged V8, or an even more powerful turbo V8. The plug-in hybrid stands out for its electric-only range and strong combined performance.
• Safety package: BMW adds Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance for 2024. It works with Assisted Driving Plus cruise control mode and uses the digital display or head-up display to show when it is ready.
• Infotainment: The X5 uses a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel paired with a 14.9-inch touchscreen under BMW Curved Display. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, over-the-air software updates, and BMW Operating System 8.5.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid is rated at 22 mpg in combined driving and can travel 38 miles on electricity before the gasoline engine starts. In testing, it also returned 33.7 mpg on one mixed route and 38.8 mpg over a longer evaluation drive.

Which 2024 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2024 BMW X5 is offered in 4 trim levels: sDrive40i, xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i.

Here's the short version:

• sDrive40i: This is the entry point if you want the X5 experience at the lowest starting point. It gives you the core luxury-SUV formula, but you give up the extra traction of xDrive.
• xDrive40i: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds BMW’s all-wheel drive system while keeping the six-cylinder setup and broad everyday appeal.
• xDrive50e: This is the standout pick if you want the most compelling blend of performance and efficiency. It is the plug-in hybrid and the version that best captures the X5’s dual personality.
• M60i: This is the choice if you want the V8-powered performance step-up and are willing to pay for it.

BMW’s safety content also notes that Highway Assistant is added for 2024, but advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 BMW X5?

The market is leaning in your favor if you are shopping carefully.

• Deal availability: 41.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,424 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.79% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $51,338, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $51,338 sits slightly below last year's $56,287.

That price movement suggests the X5 has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right number today. A softer market now can also mean less downside risk later if demand stays steady.

The X5’s premium positioning and strong owner satisfaction should help support interest from used buyers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 safe?

The 2024 BMW X5 earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA, and IIHS gives it high ratings, though lower headlight ratings kept it from earning an IIHS safety award.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW’s Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance system is the headline safety addition for 2024. It works with Assisted Driving Plus cruise control mode and can operate subtly in the background, especially in dense traffic or light high-speed traffic.

There are caveats, though. The system can brake abruptly in some situations, and BMW’s own safety content notes that lower headlight ratings prevented an IIHS award. Advanced safety features are also not standard, so you should verify exactly which driver-assistance equipment is included on the used example you are considering.

Should I buy a 2024 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 41.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 adds Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance and a refreshed cabin with BMW Curved Display.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $58,266, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $51,338 average.
• It mainly adds a 25th-anniversary limited edition and otherwise carries over.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2024 is the smarter buy because it already has the updated hardware and a softer used-market price. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year with minimal changes, the 2025 is the cleaner alternative, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2024.
