CarGurus Analysis: 2024 BMW 7 Series
overall

Summary
With 624 currently listed for sale and an average price of $69,242.00, 34.3% of 2024 BMW 7 Series models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 BMW 7 Series 3.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.67 / 10.
91.7% of 2024 BMW 7 Series models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 BMW 7 Series stands out as BMW’s full-size flagship sedan, and it leans hard into the kind of luxury and technology that make it feel special. It offers a spacious, luxurious cabin, and the available rear-seat theatre and cashmere upholstery add to its upscale appeal. The car is also described as luxurious, fast, and efficient, which gives it a broad range of strengths for buyers who want a large sedan that can do more than simply cruise in comfort.
For 2024, BMW added the plug-in hybrid 750e and lightly updated the infotainment system. The 750e brings a boost in power and efficiency over the low-end 740i, and the 7 Series is noted for performance and fuel efficiency that are often superior to most rivals, few of whom offer PHEV options. Even so, the car’s digital systems remain frustratingly complex, and the PHEV version is said to have a disjointed driving personality and to quickly eat its electric charge. Its quirky styling is also not for everyone, so the 2024 7 Series is best suited to buyers who value luxury, capability, and advanced features enough to overlook some usability and design drawbacks.

Unfortunately, the front end re-style is not as attractive as the prior car (2020-2022) and the dash layout looks like a Mercedes. Think Ill be keeping my 2020 750i which is a fantastic car. One of the best Ive ever owned. As a frame of reference Ive had Rolls Royce, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, Ferrari and more. The 750i is the most serene ride ever.

It is a beautiful car with great feature s and amazing technology. The ride was great minus the little road noise but the great audio system take care of that. Its 4 out of 5 car aesthetically, and with its options and functions.

It’s a strong luxury flagship if you want a spacious, feature-rich sedan and can live with some usability compromises. It earns a 3.5/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating.
The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Safety.
The 2024 7 Series stands out for its spacious, luxurious cabin, available rear-seat theatre, and cashmere upholstery, and it’s described as luxurious, fast, and efficient. Those strengths make sense if you want a full-size sedan that does more than simply cruise in comfort.
The trade-offs are real: the digital systems remain frustratingly complex, and the PHEV version has a disjointed driving personality. The 750e adds power and efficiency, but it also brings more complexity and doesn’t fully erase the car’s usability quirks.
With 33.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 BMW 7 Series reliable?
The 2024 7 Series is presented as a robust, well-engineered flagship with smooth, reliable electronic systems and strong crash-structure fundamentals. BMW’s warning systems work unobtrusively, and the expert evaluation says they’re good at detecting pedestrians and hazards.
The performance side is also reassuring: the car is described as an effortless cruiser with precise steering, relatively little body roll, and lithe handling from its standard air suspension. That points to a vehicle built to feel composed rather than fragile.
BMW also includes a helpful voice assistant, and the expert notes that the systems operate smoothly and reliably. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about living with a complex, highly digital luxury car as it ages.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 BMW 7 Series?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially because this is a high-tech flagship with expensive systems. Focus on how the infotainment, driver-assistance features, and powertrain behave in real use, not just how the car looks on paper. Pay close attention to whether the equipment level matches the trim and options you expect.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The cabin can vary a lot by trim and option package, from vegan fake leather to Merino leather and Cashmere wool blend, and some of the most distinctive touches are expensive extras rather than standard equipment.
- Powertrain: You can shop a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, or a plug-in hybrid setup with an electric motor and 14.4-kWh battery pack; the PHEV is quick and efficient, but its low-speed brake and throttle behavior can feel inconsistent.
- Safety package: BMW includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, adaptive headlamps, parking sensors, safe exit warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist, while surround view monitoring, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, automated parking assist, and partially automated highway assistance cost extra.
- Infotainment: The curved display combines a 12.3-inch driver’s screen with a 14.9-inch infotainment display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system is touchscreen-driven with few hard controls.
- Fuel efficiency: The 750e is rated at 65 MPGe and 25 mpg combined, while the 740i and 760i are rated at 28 mpg combined and 20 mpg combined, respectively.
Which 2024 BMW 7 Series trim should I buy?
The 2024 BMW 7 Series is offered in 4 trim levels: 740i, 740i xDrive, 750e xDrive, 760i xDrive.
Here's the short version:
- 740i: This is the entry point, and it gives you the turbocharged inline-six, rear-wheel drive, and the core 7 Series luxury experience at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the flagship feel without stretching into the pricier trims.
- 740i xDrive: This is the best-value trim. You get the same basic powertrain with all-wheel drive, and the expert data points to it as the lineup’s sweet spot because it balances capability and cost better than the plug-in hybrid.
- 750e xDrive: Choose this if you want the plug-in hybrid’s stronger punch and better fuel economy, and you’re willing to pay more for the added complexity. It suits you best if you’ll actually plug it in and value efficiency as much as performance.
- 760i xDrive: This is the choice for maximum performance and the most exclusive luxury options, including features like two-tone paint or Cashmere wool interior when equipped. It’s the right pick if you want the most vigorous driving experience and don’t mind the steep price.
BMW’s best driver-assistance systems still cost extra, so check whether the car you’re considering has the Premium package or Driving Assistance Professional Package.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 BMW 7 Series?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.
- Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 664 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.60% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 91.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $69,132.23, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 BMW 7 Series's resale value?
The current average of $69,167 sits slightly below last year's $80,992.
That drop suggests the market has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help you as a buyer today. If you plan to sell later, the same trend means you should expect the car to continue behaving like a high-depreciation luxury sedan.
The upside is that the current pricing may be closer to a more realistic used-market level than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that means resale value will likely depend heavily on trim, condition, and equipment rather than on broad market momentum.
Is the 2024 BMW 7 Series safe?
The 2024 BMW 7 Series has not yet been crash-tested by either IIHS or NHTSA.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
BMW gives the 7 Series a strong standard safety suite, including forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, adaptive headlamps, parking sensors, safe exit warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist. If you want more, the Premium package adds surround view monitoring, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and automated parking assist, while the Driving Assistance Professional Package adds partially automated active driving assistant and highway assistant with limited hands-free capability.
The main caveat is that the most advanced driver-assistance features are not standard, so you’ll want to verify package content carefully on any used example. BMW’s systems are described as working very well and operating smoothly and reliably, but the lack of crash-test results means you’re leaning more on equipment and engineering than published ratings.
Should I buy a 2024 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.60% compared with last year.
- BMW added the 750e plug-in hybrid and updated the infotainment system.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $62,288, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $69,167 average.
- It blends comfort, luxury, and performance with great ride quality and handling.
The bottom line: If you want the newer powertrain choice and updated tech, the 2024 is the better target. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable with the earlier model’s strengths, the 2023 is the smarter value play.
