CarGurus Analysis: 2024 BMW 7 Series
overall

Summary
With 660 currently listed for sale and an average price of $69,258.00, 37.1% of 2024 BMW 7 Series models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 BMW 7 Series 3.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.67 / 10.
90.9% of 2024 BMW 7 Series models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 BMW 7 Series stands out as BMW’s full-size flagship sedan, and it leans hard into the kind of luxury and technology that make it feel special. It offers a spacious, luxurious cabin, and the available rear-seat theatre and cashmere upholstery add to its upscale appeal. The car is also described as luxurious, fast, and efficient, which gives it a broad range of strengths for buyers who want a large sedan that can do more than simply cruise in comfort.
For 2024, BMW added the plug-in hybrid 750e and lightly updated the infotainment system. The 750e brings a boost in power and efficiency over the low-end 740i, and the 7 Series is noted for performance and fuel efficiency that are often superior to most rivals, few of whom offer PHEV options. Even so, the car’s digital systems remain frustratingly complex, and the PHEV version is said to have a disjointed driving personality and to quickly eat its electric charge. Its quirky styling is also not for everyone, so the 2024 7 Series is best suited to buyers who value luxury, capability, and advanced features enough to overlook some usability and design drawbacks.

Unfortunately, the front end re-style is not as attractive as the prior car (2020-2022) and the dash layout looks like a Mercedes. Think Ill be keeping my 2020 750i which is a fantastic car. One of the best Ive ever owned. As a frame of reference Ive had Rolls Royce, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, Ferrari and more. The 750i is the most serene ride ever.

It is a beautiful car with great feature s and amazing technology. The ride was great minus the little road noise but the great audio system take care of that. Its 4 out of 5 car aesthetically, and with its options and functions.

Is the 2024 BMW 7 Series a good car?
It’s a strong fit if you want a full-size luxury sedan that emphasizes comfort, technology, and capability, though the experience is not without compromises. It earns 3.5/5 from users and 6.67/10 from expert testing.
The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Safety.
The 7 Series stands out for its spacious, luxurious cabin, available rear-seat theatre, and cashmere upholstery, and it also brings performance and efficiency that can outpace many rivals. At the same time, the digital systems are frustratingly complex, and the styling is polarizing, so the car asks you to accept some usability trade-offs in exchange for its upscale features.
The 750e plug-in hybrid adds power and efficiency, but it also brings a disjointed driving personality and quick battery depletion, which may matter if you want a smoother everyday experience. For buyers who value luxury, capability, and advanced features enough to overlook those drawbacks, it makes sense.
With 30.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 BMW 7 Series reliable?
The 2024 7 Series is presented as a robust, well-engineered flagship with smooth, reliable operation from its driver-assistance systems. BMW’s systems are described as working very well, operating smoothly and reliably, and the car’s crash structures are said to be robust.
The performance side also points to a durable long-haul character: it’s described as an effortless cruiser with precise steering, relatively little body roll, and standard air suspension that helps it handle its size well. That combination suggests a car built to cover distance comfortably rather than feel fragile or overly delicate.
BMW also includes a helpful voice assistant and a broad set of standard active safety features, which can reduce day-to-day stress when they’re used properly. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the car’s complexity can make repairs, updates, and feature troubleshooting more demanding as it ages.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 BMW 7 Series?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with more advanced options. Focus on how the infotainment, driver-assistance features, and powertrain behave in real use, since this model’s complexity is one of its biggest ownership variables.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The cabin is the main differentiator here, with features like the rear-seat theatre, cashmere upholstery, and more elaborate interior materials helping higher trims feel more special. Base versions are still luxurious, but the most distinctive comfort and presentation upgrades sit higher in the lineup.
- Powertrain: You get a turbocharged inline-six in the 740i, a twin-turbo V8 in the 760i, and a plug-in hybrid setup in the 750e. The 750e adds electric torque and strong efficiency, but its around-town behavior is less polished than the gas models.
- Safety package: BMW’s standard suite includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, adaptive headlamps, parking sensors, safe exit warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist. Adaptive cruise control, surround-view monitoring, automated parking assist, and the partially automated highway-assist features cost extra.
- Infotainment: The curved display combines a 12.3-inch driver screen with a 14.9-inch infotainment display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, but the system is heavily menu-driven and can be frustrating to use.
- Fuel efficiency: The 750e is rated at 65 MPGe and 25 mpg combined, while the 740i and 760i are rated at 28 mpg and 20 mpg combined, respectively.
Which 2024 BMW 7 Series trim should I buy?
The 2024 BMW 7 Series is offered in 4 trim levels: 740i, 740i xDrive, 750e xDrive, 760i xDrive.
Here's the short version:
- 740i: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core 7 Series experience with the turbocharged inline-six, rear-wheel drive, and the same luxury-first cabin design. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable keeping the equipment list simpler.
- 740i xDrive: This is the best-value trim. It adds all-wheel drive and is called out as the lineup’s best value, making it the smart pick if you want the most balanced mix of capability and price.
- 750e xDrive: Choose this if you want plug-in hybrid efficiency and stronger electric-assisted punch. It’s quick and efficient, but it costs more and is less polished in stop-and-go driving.
- 760i xDrive: This is the choice for maximum performance and the most exclusive luxury options. It brings the V8 and the richest feature possibilities, but it also pushes the price much higher.
BMW’s best driver-assistance systems still cost extra, so factor those packages into your budget if you want the fullest safety and convenience setup.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 BMW 7 Series?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price softness to create opportunities.
- Deal availability: 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 656 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.05% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 91.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $69,241.03, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 BMW 7 Series's resale value?
The current average of $69,232 sits slightly below last year's $80,547.
That drop suggests the market has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be good news if you’re buying now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on trim, mileage, and condition rather than on broad market momentum alone.
Because the model is still relatively expensive and highly optioned, well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold up better than stripped or heavily used ones. If you plan to sell later, keeping the car clean, documented, and properly maintained will matter a lot.
Is the 2024 BMW 7 Series safe?
It has not yet been crash-tested by either IIHS or NHTSA, so there isn’t a formal rating to lean on for this model year.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
BMW equips the 7 Series with a strong standard safety suite that includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, adaptive headlamps, parking sensors, safe exit warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist. If you want more, the Premium package adds surround-view monitoring, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and automated parking assist, while the Driving Assistance Professional Package adds partially automated active driving assistant and highway assistant with limited hands-free capability.
The main caveat is that BMW charges extra for some advanced systems that competitors may include more often, so you’ll want to verify package content on any used example. Even so, the available tech is broad and the systems are described as working smoothly and reliably.
Should I buy a 2024 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.05% compared with last year.
- BMW added the plug-in hybrid 750e and updated the infotainment system for this year.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $62,545, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $69,232 average.
- It blends comfort, luxury, and performance with great ride quality and handling.
The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the newer powertrain mix and updated tech, especially if you’re shopping for a well-equipped flagship sedan with strong feature content. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the better value path because it delivers much of the same core luxury-and-performance appeal for less.
