CarGurus Analysis: 2024 BMW 7 Series
overall

Summary
With 664 currently listed for sale and an average price of $68,943, 35.2% of 2024 BMW 7 Series models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 BMW 7 Series 3.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.67 / 10.
91.6% of 2024 BMW 7 Series models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 BMW 7 Series stands out as BMW’s full-size flagship sedan, and it aims to blend luxury, speed, and efficiency in one package. It also brings a distinctive look that will not appeal to everyone, and its digital systems remain frustratingly complex. Even so, it offers a spacious, luxurious cabin and potent powertrain options, which help explain its appeal to buyers looking for a high-end sedan with broad capability.
For 2024, BMW added the plug-in hybrid 750e and lightly updated the infotainment system. The 750e brings more power and efficiency than the low-end 740i, but it costs more, has a disjointed driving personality, and quickly uses up its electric charge. The 2024 7 Series also offers features such as a rear-seat theatre and cashmere upholstery, along with performance and fuel efficiency that are often superior to most rivals, though its overly complex infotainment and uneven PHEV performance remain notable drawbacks.

Unfortunately, the front end re-style is not as attractive as the prior car (2020-2022) and the dash layout looks like a Mercedes. Think Ill be keeping my 2020 750i which is a fantastic car. One of the best Ive ever owned. As a frame of reference Ive had Rolls Royce, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, Ferrari and more. The 750i is the most serene ride ever.

It is a beautiful car with great feature s and amazing technology. The ride was great minus the little road noise but the great audio system take care of that. Its 4 out of 5 car aesthetically, and with its options and functions.

With a 3.5/5 user rating and an expert score of 6.67/10, the 2024 BMW 7 Series looks appealing if you want a full-size flagship sedan that emphasizes luxury and capability.
The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Safety.
BMW’s own overview points to a spacious, luxurious cabin and potent powertrain options, and the expert review backs that up with strong straight-line performance and a refined ride. The trade-offs are clear: the infotainment system is frustratingly complex, and the styling is polarizing.
The 750e plug-in hybrid adds power and efficiency, but it also brings a disjointed driving personality and quick battery depletion. That makes the 7 Series a better fit if you value breadth of capability over simplicity.
With 34.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 BMW 7 Series reliable?
The 2024 BMW 7 Series is positioned as a robust, high-end flagship with a strong platform and well-executed driver-assistance systems.
BMW’s safety and warning systems work smoothly and reliably, and the electronic alerts are described as unobtrusive while still doing a good job detecting pedestrians and hazards. The performance side also points to a composed, effortless cruiser with standard air suspension and precise steering.
BMW’s plug-in hybrid setup adds complexity, though, and the 750e’s brake and throttle transitions can feel inconsistent around town. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is more about system complexity and upkeep than basic mechanical weakness.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 BMW 7 Series?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report and prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on a car this complex. Focus on how the infotainment, driver-assistance features, and powertrain behave in real-world use, since those are the areas most likely to shape your ownership experience.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The cabin can be configured with a wide range of materials and visual treatments, from vegan fake leather to Merino leather and Cashmere wool blend, and some combinations are much more distinctive than others. The base setup is already luxurious, but higher trims and packages add the most dramatic visual and comfort upgrades.
- Powertrain: You can choose among a turbocharged inline-six, a twin-turbo V8, and a plug-in hybrid six-cylinder setup. The 750e is the most efficiency-focused option, but it also has the most uneven low-speed behavior.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, adaptive headlamps, parking sensors, safe exit warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist. BMW charges extra for surround view monitoring, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, automated parking assist, and the partially automated highway-assist system.
- Infotainment: The display combines a 12.3-inch driver screen with a 14.9-inch infotainment screen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. The system is touchscreen-heavy, and BMW’s updated software still demands patience.
- Fuel efficiency: The 750e is rated at 65 MPGe and 25 mpg combined, while the 740i and 760i are rated at 28 mpg and 20 mpg combined, respectively. The 750e also has an estimated 34-mile electric range.
Which 2024 BMW 7 Series trim should I buy?
The 2024 BMW 7 Series is offered in 4 trim levels: 740i, 740i xDrive, 750e xDrive, 760i xDrive.
Here's the short version:
- 740i: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core 7 Series experience with the turbocharged inline-six, rear-wheel drive, and the full-size luxury cabin. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable keeping the equipment list more basic.
- 740i xDrive: This is the best-value trim. It adds all-wheel drive and is the sweet spot if you want the most balanced mix of capability, efficiency, and price.
- 750e xDrive: Choose this if you want the plug-in hybrid powertrain, stronger output, and the best fuel economy in the lineup. It’s the right pick if you’ll actually plug it in and can live with its less polished low-speed behavior.
- 760i xDrive: This is the performance-and-luxury choice, with the V8 and the most vigorous driving experience. It also unlocks some of the most exclusive luxury options, but it costs substantially more.
BMW’s standard safety suite is strong, but the most advanced driver-assistance features still require extra-cost packages.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 BMW 7 Series?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 655 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.96% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 91.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $68,689, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 BMW 7 Series's resale value?
The current average of $68,689 sits slightly below last year's $80,776.
That drop suggests the market has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation. If you buy now, you’re entering at a lower price point than last year’s shoppers did.
For a future seller, that means the car may continue to face depreciation pressure, especially if you choose a higher-priced trim or option-heavy build. The best protection is to buy smart now and avoid overpaying for features you won’t recover later.
Is the 2024 BMW 7 Series safe?
The 2024 BMW 7 Series has not yet been crash-tested by either IIHS or NHTSA, but BMW says its crash structures are robust.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
BMW equips the 7 Series with a broad standard safety suite that includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, adaptive headlamps, parking sensors, safe exit warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist. If you want more advanced assistance, BMW offers surround view monitoring, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, automated parking assist, and a partially automated highway-assist system through extra-cost packages.
The main caveat is that some competitors include more of this equipment as standard, so you should pay close attention to the build sheet on any used example you’re considering.
Should I buy a 2024 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.96% compared with last year.
- BMW added the 750e plug-in hybrid and updated the infotainment system for this year.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $61,870, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $68,689 average.
- It blends comfort, luxury, and performance with strong ride quality and handling.
The bottom line: If you want the newest version with the updated lineup and can live with the price, the 2024 is the better all-around pick. If you’re focused on value, the 2023 is the smarter buy because it delivers much of the same flagship character for less.
