Used 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 for Sale nearPhiladelphia, PA

How much does the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 cost?

Prices have softened 6.81% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,705 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its value, smooth ride, quiet operation, good acceleration, and strong handling. That lines up well with the ID.4’s role as a comfortable, easy-to-live-with compact electric SUV that aims for mass-market affordability. The main trade-offs are its potentially polarizing design and technology that can feel unintuitive, so it fits you best if comfort, value, and everyday usability matter more than a flashy interface. Even so, 42.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which points to solid market availability.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a reliable-feeling ownership experience, with repeated praise for build quality, smooth operation, and a driving experience people feel good about over time. The expert evaluation also supports that impression by describing the ID.4 as comfortable and refined, with a familiar driving feel that should be easy to count on day to day. VW’s included four-year, 50,000-mile vehicle warranty and eight-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty help reduce early ownership risk for used buyers, though you should still verify battery health and charging behavior before you buy.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Volkswagen ID.4?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple EVs with different charging habits and mileage patterns. Focus on overall condition, software behavior, and how the cabin and controls feel in daily use, since the ID.4’s tech can be a bigger ownership factor than on some rivals. For an EV, battery health and charging consistency matter just as much as cosmetic wear.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base ID.4 Standard brings a more affordable entry point, while higher trims add more equipment and capability. The interior quality is strong even in the base model, but the lower trims are where you’re most likely to notice feature gaps versus the better-equipped versions.
• Powertrain: You can shop single-motor rear-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive versions. RWD models make 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque, while AWD models increase output to 295 hp and 339 lb-ft and reach 60 mph in 5.7 seconds.
• Safety package: Travel Assist 2.0 is standard and includes adaptive cruise control and automated lane centering. Standard equipment also includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear park distance control, automatic high beams, traffic-sign recognition, Emergency Assist 3.0, Park Assist Plus, an automated lane-change feature, and a 360-degree camera system.
• Infotainment: A 12.0-inch touchscreen is standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the ID.Cockpit digital instrument cluster, and software updates aimed at better responsiveness.
• Range & charging: VW estimates 209 miles of range for 62-kWh Standard and S models, and up to 275 miles for 82-kWh RWD models. DC fast charging reaches 170 kW on 82-kWh models for a 10% to 80% charge in 30 minutes; 62-kWh models charge at 140 kW. The usable battery capacity is not stated here, so focus on real-world charging needs rather than trying to compare battery size alone.
• Battery health: Ask for battery state-of-health information if available, review charging history, and make sure the car has been used in a normal mix of home and DC fast charging. Also confirm how much of the battery warranty remains, since that coverage can matter a lot on a used EV.

Which 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 is offered in 5 trim levels: ID.4 Standard, ID.4 S, ID.4 Pro, ID.4 Pro S, ID.4 Pro S Plus.

Here's the short version:

• ID.4 Standard: This is the best-value starting point if you want the lowest entry price and still want the core ID.4 experience, including the strong cabin quality, standard 12.0-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and the full suite of standard driver aids.
• ID.4 S: Choose this if you want the smaller-battery, rear-drive setup but expect a bit more equipment than the Standard while staying focused on value and everyday comfort.
• ID.4 Pro: This is the smart pick if you want the longer-range 82-kWh battery and the flexibility to choose rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
• ID.4 Pro S: This is the sweet spot for shoppers who want the better-equipped feel and the stronger long-range setup without jumping to the top of the range.
• ID.4 Pro S Plus: Pick this only if you want the most equipment and don’t mind paying for it; it sits at the top of the lineup and can get expensive quickly.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, with Travel Assist 2.0 and the expanded driver-assistance suite standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Volkswagen ID.4?

• Deal availability: 42.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,705 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.81% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,957, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4's resale value?

The current average of $22,892 sits slightly below last year's $24,565.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market momentum alone. If you keep the car clean, well maintained, and within the battery warranty window, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 safe?

The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and four-star ratings in rollover crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The ID.4’s standard safety suite is broad and useful, led by Travel Assist 2.0, which combines adaptive cruise control and automated lane centering. You also get forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear park distance control, automatic high beams, traffic-sign recognition, Emergency Assist 3.0, Park Assist Plus, an automated lane-change feature, and a 360-degree camera system. IIHS ratings for this model year haven’t been published, but the similar prior model earned Top Safety Pick+ recognition, with the main caveat being weaker standard headlight performance on some trims.

Should I buy a 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 42.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new base model, more standard tech, and expanded driver aids.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $23,722, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $22,892 average.
• It brings a more powerful rear-drive motor and a better infotainment experience.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2023 is the stronger buy because it combines lower pricing, solid deal availability, and strong owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer update and improved tech, the 2024 is the better path; otherwise, the 2023 gives you the more compelling price-to-feature balance.
