Used 2023 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearAmelia, OH

How much does the 2023 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 3,422 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Toyota 4Runner earns 4.78/5 from owners and 7.00/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, strong performance, and spacious third row. They also like the interior layout and features, and many describe it as a solid family choice. In use, it fits buyers who want a rugged SUV that still works for everyday driving and weekend adventures.

The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy and unimpressive safety ratings. It also asks you to accept an older design in exchange for its character and capability.

Good and great deals account for 35.6% of listings, so there is still room to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2023 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners’ feedback points to reliability, comfort, and a trouble-free ownership experience as recurring strengths. The expert review also emphasizes legendary reliability and durability, along with a reputation for being something you can count on over time.

Toyota’s free scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles adds a helpful ownership perk early on. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear can matter more than mileage alone, so condition should carry extra weight.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota 4Runner?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any listing you like, even if it looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear, maintenance history, and signs of hard use. Because this SUV is often bought for rugged duty, condition matters as much as mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes SR5, TRD Sport, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, 40th Anniversary Special Edition, Limited, and TRD Pro. The base trims keep the cabin simple, while the higher trims add more distinctive styling and equipment. The 40th Anniversary Special Edition is based on SR5 Premium and adds retro body stripes, bronze 17-inch wheels, bronze badges, bronze stitching, floor mats, and a numbered plaque.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 4.0-liter V6 with 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque, paired with a five-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard unless you choose a 4WD setup, and the SUV is rated to tow 5,000 pounds. Fuel economy is 17 mpg combined.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on every trim level.
• Infotainment: The largest touchscreen is 8 inches. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Amazon Alexa compatibility are included, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability is available. A navigation system and JBL premium audio are available upgrades.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4Runner is rated at 17 mpg in combined driving, and the review notes 16.9 mpg in real-world testing.

Which 2023 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 8 trim levels: SR5, TRD Sport, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, 40th Anniversary Special Edition, Limited, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point if you want the 4Runner’s core ruggedness and standard safety tech without paying for extras. It makes sense if you mainly want the traditional body-on-frame SUV experience at the lowest starting price.
• TRD Sport: Choose this if you want a more road-focused setup and a little more personality than the base trim. It suits you if you like the 4Runner’s shape but spend more time on pavement than trails.
• SR5 Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it builds on the SR5 with a more upscale feel while staying close to the core formula. It also serves as the foundation for the 40th Anniversary Special Edition.
• TRD Off-Road: Pick this if you want the most trail-ready character without jumping all the way to the top of the range. It adds the off-road hardware focus that best matches the 4Runner’s strengths.
• TRD Off-Road Premium: This is the choice if you want the off-road capability of the TRD Off-Road with a more comfortable or better-equipped cabin.
• 40th Anniversary Special Edition: Buy this if you want the most distinctive styling and a limited-production version with retro details. It is more about appearance and exclusivity than added capability.
• Limited: This trim is the better fit if you want the more refined, on-road-oriented side of the 4Runner with available full-time 4WD.
• TRD Pro: Choose this if you want the most serious dirt-focused setup in the lineup and are willing to pay for it.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard across the lineup.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,422 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,406, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $43,936 sits slightly below last year's $44,314.

That small decline suggests the market has softened a bit, but not dramatically. For you as a future seller, that means the 4Runner is holding value reasonably well rather than swinging sharply. A stable price pattern can help you plan your exit timing with more confidence, especially if your vehicle is clean and well maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2023 Toyota 4Runner earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with a three-star rating for front passenger protection in a frontal-impact collision and a three-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on every trim level.

The main caveat is that the crash-test results are behind newer rivals, especially in rollover and frontal protection.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and a limited-production 40th Anniversary Special Edition.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $39,271, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $43,936 average.
• It appeals to buyers who value rugged capability over polish.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $47,015, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $43,936 average.
• It keeps the same rugged, reliability-focused formula with more emphasis on utility.

The bottom line: If you want the current-year 4Runner with standard blind-spot monitoring and a broad used inventory, the 2023 is the cleanest pick. If price matters most, the 2022 is the better value play, while the 2024 makes sense only if you are comfortable paying more for a newer model year.
