Used 2023 Subaru WRX for Sale nearMilwaukee, WI

How much does the 2023 Subaru WRX cost?

Prices have softened 2.63% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,262 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Subaru WRX a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Subaru WRX earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

The WRX is positioned as a rally-inspired sport compact with a performance-first personality, and Subaru says there are no changes for 2023. That means you’re shopping the current formula: stylish design, great handling, and the availability of a manual transmission.

The trade-offs are worth weighing. Subaru’s test-drive notes call out unintuitive technology and poor value for money, and the car also gives up cargo space to some rivals.

If you want an engaging all-wheel-drive sedan with real enthusiast credibility, the WRX fits that brief well. The market also shows 38.0% good or great deals, which suggests there’s room to shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The WRX’s overview emphasizes a familiar, proven formula for 2023, with no changes to report. Subaru’s expert notes also describe the car as quiet and comfortable enough to work as a daily driver, while still delivering confident grip from its all-wheel-drive system and standard summer tires.

On the dependability side, the expert notes say the WRX’s turbocharged engine and transmission combination are well matched, producing smooth and predictable acceleration. Subaru also includes a three-year, 36,000-mile basic warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that enthusiast use can amplify wear, so condition and maintenance history matter more than mileage alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Subaru WRX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks for signs of hard driving, uneven tire wear, brake wear, and any evidence of modifications or deferred maintenance.

Focus on whether the car has been cared for as a performance sedan, not just whether it looks clean in photos. The WRX’s enthusiast appeal makes condition especially important.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base models get 17-inch wheels and a dual-7-inch-screen setup, while higher trims get 18-inch wheels and the larger 11.6-inch touchscreen. GT models add Recaro Performance Design front seats, eight-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat, and Ultrasuede upholstery.
• Powertrain: The WRX uses a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine with 271 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual is standard, while the CVT is optional on the base, Premium, and Limited trims and standard on the GT.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight system is available only with the CVT and adds adaptive cruise control, automated lane-centering, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic braking, and steering-responsive headlights are also available.
• Infotainment: Base models get two 7-inch touchscreens, while Premium and higher trims get an 11.6-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The manual transmission is rated at 22 mpg combined (19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway), while the CVT is rated at 21 mpg combined (19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway).

Which 2023 Subaru WRX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Subaru WRX is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Premium, Limited, and GT.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the value play if you want the WRX experience at the lowest entry point. You still get the core formula: turbo power, standard all-wheel drive, a manual transmission, and the car’s enthusiast character without paying for the bigger screen or luxury touches.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the larger 11.6-inch touchscreen while staying below the higher-priced Limited and GT. If you want a more modern cabin without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the sweet spot.
• Limited: Choose this if you want more comfort and safety equipment, including the available headlights that earn a better rating than the base lights. It’s the trim to target if you want a more polished WRX without going all the way to GT pricing.
• GT: This is the top trim and the one Subaru used for its test car. It adds Recaro Performance Design front seats, Ultrasuede upholstery, electronically controlled dampers, and drive mode select, but it also carries the highest price and the CVT only.

The safety-package note to keep in mind is that EyeSight is only available with the CVT, and the better-rated headlights are limited to Limited and GT models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Subaru WRX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,262 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.63% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,212, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $28,081 sits slightly below last year's $28,839.

That price movement suggests the WRX has softened a bit, which can help you buy in at a more favorable point. If you plan to sell later, the current trend implies you may not see rapid appreciation, but the model’s enthusiast appeal should help support demand.

Because the WRX has a clear identity and a loyal audience, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than more ordinary compact sedans. Condition, trim, and transmission choice will matter when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Subaru WRX safe?

The 2023 Subaru WRX gets top Good scores in all crash tests completed so far from IIHS, and it earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, including five-star ratings in frontal, side, and rollover crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight safety system is available only with the CVT and includes adaptive cruise control, automated lane-centering, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and lane-departure warning. Other available safety features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic braking, and steering-responsive headlights.

One caveat to keep in mind is that the standard headlights were rated Acceptable, while the headlights available on Limited and GT models got a Good rating.

Should I buy a 2023 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.63% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Subaru says there are no changes for 2023, so you’re getting the current WRX formula.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $25,801, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $28,081 average.
• It delivers a cocktail of performance and all-weather practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the current WRX formula and are shopping for the best mix of inventory and price movement, the 2023 is the cleaner choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the better value path, especially if you can find one in strong condition with the equipment you want.
