Ford sells more than anyone, and its F-Series is all-new for 2023, but Ram can’t be ruled out. The 3500 got a new Rebel trim for 2023, and Ram now offers a digital gauge cluster for the truck. The 2023 Ram 3500 comes in several trims, including Tradesman, Lone Star/Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Longhorn, Power Wagon, and Limited. The base engine is a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. A 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel inline-six is available that produces 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque, and Ram offers a high-output version of the mill that delivers 420 horsepower and 1,075 pound-feet of torque. The gas engine comes paired with an eight-speed automatic and both diesels come with a six-speed auto. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard, and four-wheel drive (4WD) is available. The base Tradesman model comes as a stripped-down work truck, but all other trims offer plentiful creature comforts and luxury. Cloth upholstery in lower trims and leather in higher models both feel and look premium, and the cabin layout is utilitarian but usable. Materials and finishes range from basic to opulent, as models like the Longhorn and Limited get upscale leather, wood trim and more. The center console is broad and can hold a large laptop, and the interior storage is generous. Ram also equips every truck with acoustic glass to reduce interior noise. An 8-inch touchscreen is standard and brings Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. As it does with the 1500, Ram also makes available a larger 12-inch display that can run two apps side-by-side. The Uconnect infotainment system is one of the best in the business, offering a simple, visually appealing way to interact with the truck. Ram equips plenty of USB ports and offers navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and more. A new digital rearview camera mirror helps improve visibility by eliminating obstacles in the camera’s path. Ram offers advanced safety equipment, including forward collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, and adaptive cruise control. A new trailer reverse system lets the driver back up a trailer using a simple dial setup in the dash. Rather than worrying about which way to turn the steering wheel, the driver can turn the dial and the trailer turns in the corresponding direction. The 2023 Ram 3500 is on sale now. Pricing starts at $46,570 and maxes out at more than $74,000. Keep in mind that most features for the truck are optional, meaning most people will spend more than the base price tag to get the options, tech, and creature comforts they desire. That’s before expensive powertrain options are considered.
