CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Nissan LEAF

Summary
With 427 currently listed for sale and an average price of $17,515.00, 45.7% of 2023 Nissan LEAFs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Nissan LEAF 5 / 5 stars.
94.8% of 2023 LEAF models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Nissan LEAF stands out as a practical, value-focused electric hatchback with a modernized look and a stronger drivetrain than the original car that made the nameplate famous. For this generation, Nissan gave the LEAF a larger battery that could deliver up to 150 miles of range and a more powerful drivetrain rated at 147 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. It also brought in e-Pedal technology, which lets drivers lean heavily on regenerative braking for a one-pedal driving style, and the car’s 6.6-kW onboard charger can replenish the battery in about eight hours on a Level 2 charger.
The 2023 model also benefits from a sharper exterior design and a useful set of standard and available features. Forward collision warning and mitigation with automatic braking was standard, while available safety equipment included intelligent lane intervention, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a blind-spot monitor, and rear cross traffic alert. Buyers could also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the model’s vehicle-to-home capability through NissanConnect adds an uncommon layer of everyday usefulness by letting the battery help power a home during an outage. Its main limitation is still range: even with the improvements, the 2023 Nissan LEAF remains best suited to drivers whose daily needs fit within its battery capacity.

I love this Leaf with a 212-mile range as an around-town car. With a CHAdeMO fast charger, that is being phased out, it is difficult to do a long road trip. However, I do not need to do long trips, so it works for me.

How much does the 2023 Nissan LEAF cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,572 |
| Year-Round Low | $15,128.21 |
| Year-Round High | $18,109.05 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $17,417 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +0.89% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 432 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $15,128.21, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2023 Nissan LEAF a good car?
Yes — the 2023 Nissan LEAF earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner approval. The overview frames it as a practical, value-focused electric hatchback with a modernized look, a stronger drivetrain, and everyday-friendly features like e-Pedal driving and a useful onboard charger. It also fits best if your daily driving stays within its range, since the model’s appeal is rooted in commuting practicality rather than long-distance flexibility. With 44.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.
Is the 2023 Nissan LEAF reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The overview emphasizes a straightforward, practical formula, a comfortable cabin, and quiet operation, all of which support the impression of an easy ownership experience. Its limited range means you should be honest about your driving needs, but for the right commute-focused buyer, the long-term risk is more about fit than complexity.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan LEAF?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and confirm the car’s charging and battery-related equipment work as expected. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on battery condition, charging behavior, and any signs of uneven wear or prior damage. Because this model is best suited to daily driving within its range, make sure the car’s real-world condition matches your commute and charging routine.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan LEAF?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 44.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 432 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 95.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,128.21, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Nissan LEAF's resale value?
The current average of $17,572 sits slightly above last year's $17,417.
That small increase suggests the market has stayed stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern can be helpful because it points to predictable demand and less risk of a sudden value drop. If you buy well and keep the car in good condition, you’re starting from a relatively steady pricing base.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2023 Nissan LEAF or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 44.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2023 Nissan LEAF makes the most sense if you want a practical, value-oriented used EV and your driving needs fit its range. If you’re focused on getting the best mix of price and availability, this year looks like the primary path to consider.
