The expert review also emphasizes Nissan’s experience building EVs and notes that the brand has more than a decade of experience servicing these powertrains. Nissan’s EV Carefree+ package adds an 8-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty and three years or 36,000 miles of scheduled maintenance.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the battery and charging history are healthy, especially if the car has seen frequent fast charging or colder-weather use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Ariya?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple trims or battery configurations. Focus on overall condition, charging behavior, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Ariya lineup includes Engage, Engage+, Venture+, Evolve+, Empower+, Premiere, and Platinum+. Base-trim equipment is lighter than higher trims, and the safety content notes that ProPilot Assist 2.0 is reserved for the Empower+ and Platinum+ trims.
• Powertrain: The Ariya is offered with front-wheel drive and e-4ORCE all-wheel drive. The single-motor setup makes 214 horsepower, while the dual-motor AWD version increases output to 389 horsepower and adds stronger acceleration and grip.
• Safety package: ProPilot Assist is the Ariya’s driver-assistance suite, and ProPilot Assist 2.0 adds hands-free but eyes-on driving plus lane-change assist on the Empower+ and Platinum+ trims. All Ariyas include automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, a driver-attention monitor, and traffic-sign recognition.
• Infotainment: The Ariya uses dual 12-inch displays. Wireless Apple CarPlay is standard, Android Auto is standard but wired, and a head-up display is included on all but the Engage trim.
• Range & charging: The smaller battery is 63 kWh, and Nissan says the larger battery can charge from 20% to 80% in 40 minutes on a 130-kW DC fast charger. The smaller battery should take 35 minutes for that same charge window.
• Battery health: Check battery state-of-health, ask how often the car has been DC fast charged versus charged at home, and confirm how much battery warranty coverage remains. For a used EV, those details matter more than mileage alone.

Which 2023 Nissan Ariya trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Ariya is offered in 7 trim levels: Engage, Engage+, Venture+, Evolve+, Empower+, Premiere, and Platinum+.

Here's the short version:

• Engage: This is the entry point, and it gives you the standard-range 63-kWh battery with the single-motor front-wheel-drive setup. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable giving up some of the richer equipment found higher up.
• Engage+: This trim adds the extended-range battery while staying in the more affordable part of the lineup. It’s a smart pick if you want more range without jumping all the way to the pricier upper trims.
• Venture+: This trim pairs the extended-range battery with a more powerful motor, making it a strong value choice if you want more capability without moving into the premium end of the range.
• Evolve+: This trim is available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, so it gives you flexibility if you want to tailor the Ariya to your driving conditions.
• Empower+: This is the trim to target if you want ProPilot Assist 2.0, since that next-generation safety system appears here and above.
• Premiere: This limited-edition trim keeps the extended-range battery and adds a more upscale feel, making it a good fit if you want a richer feature mix without going all the way to the top.
• Platinum+: This is the top trim and the best fit if you want the most power, the most advanced safety tech, and the fullest expression of the Ariya’s comfort-and-tech mission.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that ProPilot Assist 2.0 is not standard across the lineup; it appears on the Empower+ and Platinum+ trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Ariya?

The market leans in your favor right now, with strong deal availability and a healthy supply of clean listings.

• Deal availability: 42.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,550 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.04% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,315, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Ariya's resale value?

The current average of $22,675 sits slightly below last year's $25,489.

That decline suggests the Ariya has become more affordable in the used market, which can help you as a buyer but may pressure resale returns if you plan to sell soon. If prices continue to soften, future sellers may need to be more competitive on condition, mileage, and equipment to stand out.

On the other hand, the Ariya’s strong feature content and broad owner satisfaction can help support demand. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Ariya safe?

The 2023 Nissan Ariya has not been crash-tested by NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

ProPilot Assist is Nissan’s flagship driver-assistance suite, and it includes extended-stop capability and speed-limit recognition via ProPilot Assist with Navi-link. On the Empower+ and Platinum+ trims, ProPilot Assist 2.0 adds hands-free but eyes-on driving and lane-change assist.

All 2023 Ariyas also come with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, a driver-attention monitor, and traffic-sign recognition. The main safety caveat is that the most advanced hands-free system is limited to higher trims.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Ariya or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 42.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model stands out for its stylish design, comfort focus, and strong advanced safety features, while the overview also highlights its competitive price tag and dual-motor e-4ORCE appeal.

The bottom line: If you want a stylish, comfort-oriented EV with strong safety tech and a market that currently favors buyers, the 2023 Ariya is the right year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, shop carefully within this year’s range and focus on clean-history listings with the equipment you want.
