Used 2023 Nissan Altima for Sale nearBakersfield, CA

How much does the 2023 Nissan Altima cost?

Prices have softened 1.27% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,638 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Nissan Altima earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its fuel economy, responsive driving feel, and quality audio system. The Altima also fits well if you want a comfortable, easy-to-live-with midsize sedan with straightforward tech and strong safety credentials. On the downside, the expert review calls out fairly pedestrian performance and poor visibility, and the interior materials feel cheap. That makes it a better fit if you value comfort, simple tech, and everyday practicality over excitement. Good and great deals account for 36.3% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for its cost-effective fuel economy and the sense that it is easy to count on day to day. The expert review also describes Nissan’s CVT as a good one and notes that the automaker has been building these transmissions for decades, which supports confidence in the drivetrain’s long-term durability. Nissan also includes a first scheduled maintenance visit on the house in some rival comparisons, but that advantage is not part of this model’s value story. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a well-used example may show wear in the transmission, brakes, or visibility-related hardware, so condition matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Altima?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not guarantee a clean mechanical past. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the transmission, brakes, and any signs of uneven wear or repair. Since visibility is a known weak point, make sure the cameras, sensors, and driver-assistance features work properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim is light on equipment, while SV, SR, and SL add more useful features and better overall appeal. The SL is the most luxurious, and the SR VC-Turbo adds the more powerful turbocharged engine.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with a CVT, while the SR VC-Turbo uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with more power. AWD is available only with the standard engine on SV, SR, and SL trims.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver monitoring system. ProPilot Assist adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centering assist on higher trims, while rear automatic braking starts with SV and automatic high beams come on SR.
• Infotainment: The base S gets a 5-inch display, Bluetooth streaming audio, and a hands-free text messaging assistant. SV and SR move to an 8-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, while the available 12.3-inch system adds wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, and wireless charging.
• Fuel efficiency: Official combined fuel economy ranges from 30 mpg to 32 mpg for the standard engine, and the SR VC-Turbo is rated at 29 mpg combined. The test vehicle averaged 27.4 mpg.

Which 2023 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Altima is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, SR, SL, SR VC-Turbo.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the least expensive way into the Altima, but it is also the most stripped-down. You get the basics, yet the 5-inch display and limited tech make it the trim most buyers should try to move past.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 8-inch touchscreen and a much more complete feature set. It is the trim that makes the Altima feel properly equipped without pushing you into luxury pricing.
• SR: Choose this if you want a sportier look and a few extra features, including automatic high beams and available upgrades like the larger touchscreen. It is a good middle ground if style matters to you.
• SL: This is the most luxurious Altima and the best choice if you want the most comfort and the available surround-view camera system. It also gets the standard 12.3-inch infotainment setup and ProPilot Assist.
• SR VC-Turbo: Pick this only if you want the most powerful Altima and are willing to pay for it. It pairs the upscale equipment of the higher trims with the turbocharged engine.

Safety-wise, ProPilot Assist is optional on SV and standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo, while the surround-view camera system is reserved for SL and SR VC-Turbo.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Altima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,638 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.27% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 79.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,543, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $20,201 sits slightly below last year's $20,461.

That modest decline suggests the Altima is holding value reasonably well, but not strongly enough to signal rising demand. If you plan to sell later, the current trend implies you should expect a market that rewards clean condition, good equipment, and strong documentation more than simple age alone. Because the model has broad appeal as a practical midsize sedan, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima safe?

The 2023 Nissan Altima earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star rollover resistance and four-star front passenger frontal impact safety. It also earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS for the 2022 calendar year, though the updated IIHS side-impact test gives it a Poor rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver monitoring system. ProPilot Assist adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centering assist, and it is optional on SV and standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo. The SL and SR VC-Turbo also get a surround-view camera system, which helps offset the Altima’s poor rear visibility. The main caveat is the Poor IIHS side-impact result, which is worth keeping in mind if safety is your top priority.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 brings updated styling, a larger available touchscreen, and strong safety tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $17,110, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $20,201 average.
• It offers more trim and powertrain variety.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $19,779, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $20,201 average.
• It adds value-focused updates and available all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current-market availability, safety, and updated tech, the 2023 is the better target. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly path, while the 2024 is worth a look if you want a newer alternative at a similar price.
