How much does the 2023 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 2.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 772 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz G-Class stands out because it blends unmistakable military-grade styling with serious luxury and off-road ability. Buyers are drawn to it as much for its image as for its capability, since it can still tackle almost any trail while projecting the kind of presence that makes it feel at home in high-end neighborhoods.

For this generation, Mercedes gave the G-Class a thoroughly modern cabin and technology suite. It uses the MBUX infotainment system with dual 12.3-inch displays integrated into a single panel across the dashboard, and it includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SUV also benefits from a lighter structure, a plusher interior, electric power steering, and driver-assist and safety features developed for other Mercedes models.

The tradeoff is that the G-Class remains expensive and thirsty. It is also not especially practical in the sense of value, since it is bought more for style, luxury, and capability than for efficiency or bargain pricing. 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you do have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz G-Class stands out because it blends unmistakable military-grade styling with serious luxury and off-road ability. For shoppers, that means you are looking at a vehicle built to deliver a distinctive ownership experience rather than a simple, low-cost one.

The cabin and technology are thoroughly modern, with MBUX, dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus driver-assist and safety features developed for other Mercedes models. That gives you a strong feature set, but the vehicle’s expensive, high-end nature means upkeep can still be demanding over time.

For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk is less about basic appeal and more about the cost of keeping a complex luxury SUV in top condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report on any listing you are seriously considering, especially if the vehicle has had multiple owners or a long service gap. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for wear, repair quality, and any signs that the SUV has been used hard off-road or neglected in routine maintenance.

Focus on overall condition, because a luxury SUV like this can hide expensive issues behind a polished presentation. Pay close attention to the cabin, electronics, tires, brakes, and service records before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 772 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.57% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $167,682, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $167,791 sits slightly below last year's $172,210.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy with less pressure today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Because the G-Class is a high-end, image-driven SUV, strong presentation and a clean history can matter a lot when it is time to sell. If you keep it in excellent shape, you are better positioned to hold value than a neglected example.

Should I buy a 2023 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.57% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the right path if you want the current-year balance of price, inventory, and clean listings while still getting the G-Class’s signature style and capability. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2023 gives you a strong mix of availability and market softness that can make shopping easier.
