Is the 2023 Mazda CX-9 a good car?

It stands out for putting driving feel ahead of sheer size, with sportier tuning and a cabin that aims for a premium feel rather than a purely utilitarian one. The market also shows 36.3% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-9 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Mazda CX-9 is described as polished and refined, with a premium-leaning cabin and an engaging driving character. Its tradeoffs are more about space and interface simplicity than basic appeal, so used buyers should focus on whether the vehicle has been maintained well and whether its features still work as intended. For long-term ownership, the main risk is ending up with a well-worn example that has not been cared for as carefully as its upscale feel suggests.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mazda CX-9?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then inspect the vehicle closely for signs of prior damage or inconsistent repairs. Pay extra attention to overall condition, since the CX-9’s appeal depends heavily on how well the cabin and driving experience have been preserved. It is also worth checking that the infotainment controls and other convenience features operate smoothly, because usability matters in this model year.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mazda CX-9?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 424 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.14% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,567, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mazda CX-9's resale value?

The current average of $26,567 sits slightly below last year's $28,006.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale will depend on how well the market continues to value this model’s premium feel and driving character. If you keep the vehicle in strong condition and avoid accident history, you are more likely to preserve value than if you buy a rougher example. The current price trend suggests there is still demand, but not enough to push values above last year’s level.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Mazda CX-9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.14% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $23,799, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $26,567 average.
• It offers a more upscale feel and smooth ride.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2023 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2022 is the better value path, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
