Yes — the 2023 Mazda CX-50 earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-50 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that feels stylish, well built, and enjoyable to live with over time, with owners highlighting the quality interior and strong performance. The review summary also suggests the CX-50 can be a dependable choice for buyers who want a crossover they can count on, especially when equipped with the turbo engine.

The expert drive notes also support that impression by describing the turbo powertrain as smooth and capable, with reliable towing capability called out in testing. Mazda’s maintenance-friendly ownership approach is reinforced by the brand’s broader service positioning.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a stiffer ride, hard seats, and a less effective non-turbo setup may affect satisfaction if the vehicle has been poorly maintained or lightly optioned.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mazda CX-50?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, seat comfort, and infotainment usability, since those are the areas most likely to affect day-to-day satisfaction. It also makes sense to focus on overall condition and equipment level, because the CX-50’s value depends heavily on how well it matches your expectations.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 2.5 S uses an 8.8-inch display, while other trims get a larger 10.25-inch screen. The most expensive trim adds the most advanced driver-assistance hardware, so lower trims miss some convenience and safety upgrades.
• Powertrain: The 2.5 S uses a 187-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder with all-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic, while the 2.5 Turbo adds stronger acceleration and more towing capacity.
• Safety package: Mazda’s driver-assistance suite is standard across the lineup, with Traffic Jam Assist, active blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors with reverse automatic braking, and a surround-view camera reserved for the top trim.
• Infotainment: Every CX-50 gets Mazda Connect with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and Mazda Connected Services. The base trim has an 8.8-inch display, while other trims use a 10.25-inch display.

Which 2023 Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Mazda CX-50 is offered in 10 trim levels: 2.5 S Select, 2.5 S Preferred, 2.5 S Premium, 2.5 S Premium Plus, 2.5 S Meridian Edition, 2.5 S Turbo, 2.5 Turbo Premium, 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus, 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition, 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus.

Here's the short version:

• 2.5 S Select: This is the entry point if you want the CX-50’s styling, standard safety tech, and wireless smartphone integration at the lowest price.
• 2.5 S Preferred: This is the best-value choice if you want a more comfortable and better-equipped daily driver without jumping to turbo pricing.
• 2.5 S Premium: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay for added convenience and presentation.
• 2.5 S Premium Plus: This is for you if you want a near-luxury experience without moving to the turbo side of the lineup.
• 2.5 S Meridian Edition: Pick this if you want the more rugged look and adventure-oriented extras, including all-terrain tires and a roof-mounted load platform.
• 2.5 S Turbo: This is the right move if you want the stronger engine and better towing capability without paying for the top turbo trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mazda CX-50?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,860 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,123, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mazda CX-50's resale value?

The current average of $26,123 sits slightly below last year's $27,808.

That decline suggests the CX-50 has already moved through some early depreciation, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means resale value may remain sensitive to trim choice, condition, and equipment level rather than brand appeal alone. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than stripped or heavily used ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-50 safe?

The 2023 Mazda CX-50 earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda gives the CX-50 a generous standard package of driver-assistance systems, and the most advanced features are concentrated on the top trim. That top trim adds Traffic Jam Assist, active blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors with reverse automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

One caveat is that the expert drive notes a missed response from adaptive cruise control in heavier traffic, so you should test the system carefully during your own drive. If you want the fullest safety equipment, make sure you’re looking at the highest trim.

Should I buy a 2023 Mazda CX-50 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 introduces Mazda’s adventure-oriented CX-50 with strong styling, standard safety tech, and a fun-to-drive character.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $27,812, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $26,123 average.
• It leans more rugged and practical, with a more straightforward personality.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and the more engaging first-year CX-50, the 2023 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year and a slightly more rugged focus, the 2024 is the alternative to compare. Price-sensitive buyers should start with the 2023 and look for clean, well-equipped examples.
