The Corsair is a popular, strong-selling model for Lincoln that offers an upscale interior and loads of neat tech. Lincoln just announced a substantive update for the SUV that will arrive in the 2023 model year, just three years after the Corsair’s debut. The 2023 Corsair retains the base turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and 2.5-liter inline-four PHEV powertrains, but it drops the mid-range 2.3-liter four-cylinder from years past. The base engine delivers 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque and comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, and buyers can upgrade to all-wheel drive (AWD). The Corsair Grand Touring returns with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that pairs with an electric motor to produce 266 combined horsepower. A continuously variable automatic transmission and AWD are standard, and Lincoln claims an EPA-estimated 78 MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent) on electric only or 33 mpg combined with the hybrid operation. Styling refreshes outside focus on the Corsair’s front end, which features a more prominent grille and unique accents for the Grand Touring model. The PHEV gets a satin metallic grille with blue accents and new wheel designs. Both Corsair trims are available in two new colors: Crystal Red and Whisper Blue. Just as it does with the Navigator, Lincoln will offer interior themes for the Corsair. The Smoked Truffle theme features neutral colors and dark accents that Lincoln says create a “warmer, luxurious environment.” The Eternal Red theme brings a more dramatic interior with aluminum and red accents. Lincoln still focuses on warmth but says the red theme brings more energy and excitement to the cabin. Tech got an update with a new 13.2-inch infotainment display running Lincoln’s Sync 4 infotainment system. It offers over-the-air (OTA) updates, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, detailed navigation features, and more. Lincoln also includes a 12.3-inch configurable digital gauge cluster. The 2022 Corsair earned a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It scored “Good” in most crash test categories, except in the recently updated side impact test, where it picked up a “Marginal” score. The 2023 model should score similarly, and Lincoln offers a load of new advanced driver aids to improve safety further. ActiveGlide 1.2, which offers hands-free driving at speeds of up to 80 mph, is available for the 2023 Corsair. The system debuted with the 2022 Navigator and works on more than 130,000 miles of road in North America. A blue indicator light appears in the gauge cluster when it’s possible to engage ActiveGlide. Lincoln also offers lane-change assist, which brings hands-free lane changes, as part of the ActiveGlide package. Predictive speed assist, in-lane repositioning, and intersection assist are also included. Intersection assist helps prevent pedestrian-related accidents and includes an updated blind-spot assist function with tactile alerts on the steering wheel.
