How much does the 2023 Kia Niro EV cost?

Prices have softened 7.65% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 673 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used Niro EVs to compare.

Is the 2023 Kia Niro EV a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Kia Niro EV earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Kia positions this model as an accessible EV rather than a more premium one, and the review data backs that up with a redesigned look, a spacious cabin, and a strong warranty. It is aimed at you if you want an everyday electric vehicle that feels easy to live with, not one that prioritizes quick acceleration or extra traction.

The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and the lack of all-wheel drive. Even so, the market shows 42.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Kia Niro EV reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Niro EV’s appeal is reinforced by its strong warranty and its focus on practical everyday use. The expert review also describes the electric powertrain as smoother and more refined than the hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, which is a good sign for day-to-day dependability and comfort.

Kia’s warranty coverage is a meaningful ownership advantage for a used buyer, especially if you want some protection against unexpected repair costs. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is less about the basic EV layout and more about making sure the battery and charging system have been cared for properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Kia Niro EV?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are comparing multiple listings with similar prices. Focus on overall condition, charging-port area wear, tire condition, and whether the car has been used mostly for home charging or frequent DC fast charging.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Wind trim includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a driver attention monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit warning, rear occupant alert, and blind-spot collision avoidance for pulling out of parallel parking spaces. The Wave adds parking sensors and Remote Smart Parking Assist, so base-trim shoppers should be aware of those feature gaps.
• Powertrain: The Niro EV uses a single electric motor with front-wheel drive and 201 horsepower. The review describes its power delivery as smooth and its low-end torque as helpful off the line, but it also notes that performance is fairly pedestrian.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist equipment includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a driver attention monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit warning, rear occupant alert, blind-spot collision avoidance for pulling out of parallel parking spaces, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, navigation-based curve prediction, and Highway Driving Assist. The Wave trim adds parking sensors and Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Highway Driving Assist II is optional on Wave.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus SiriusXM satellite radio and a Harman Kardon audio system. Wireless smartphone integration is not included.
• Range & charging: Kia is aiming for 253 miles of range. The battery pack is 64.8 kWh, and DC fast charging is rated at 85 kW with a 10% to 80% charge time of 45 minutes. On Level 2 AC power, Kia says it can fully recharge in seven hours.
• Battery health: For a used EV, you should ask for battery state-of-health information if it is available, confirm typical charging habits, and check whether the car has spent most of its life on home charging or repeated DC fast charging. You should also verify how much of the battery warranty remains so you know what protection you still have.

Which 2023 Kia Niro EV trim should I buy?

The 2023 Kia Niro EV is offered in 2 trim levels: Wind and Wave.

Here's the short version:

• Wind: This is the trim to target if you want the lower entry price and the core Niro EV experience. It already includes the main driver-assistance features, the 10.25-inch screens, and the standard EV hardware, so it covers the essentials well.
• Wave: This is the better pick if you want the most convenience and tech. It adds parking sensors, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and V2L capability, and it is the trim that can also be equipped with Highway Driving Assist II. If you want the best-value trim with the most useful extras, this is the one to focus on.

Both trim levels include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and Highway Driving Assist, and the Wave trim adds the extra parking and automation features noted above.

• Deal availability: 42.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 673 listings available.

What is the 2023 Kia Niro EV's resale value?

The current average of $21,076 sits slightly below last year's $22,823.

That price movement suggests the used market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car more attractive to buyers but less favorable for sellers trying to maximize return. If you own one, the current pricing trend means you may need to be realistic when setting your asking price.

The good news is that the Niro EV still has a strong value story thanks to its practical cabin, strong warranty, and broad appeal as an accessible EV. Those traits can help support demand if you keep the car in clean condition and maintain it well.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Highway Driving Assist II is optional on the Wave trim and adds automated lane-change capability and machine learning-based response tuning.

Should I buy a 2023 Kia Niro EV or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 42.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model brings a redesigned second-generation body, updated tech, and a more modern look while keeping the Niro EV focused on efficiency, space, and everyday usability.

The bottom line: If you want the newest Niro EV design and a used-market price that has already come down, the 2023 is the better path. If you are mainly shopping on price, a different year may be worth considering, but the 2023 stands out if you value the redesign, strong warranty, and practical EV packaging.
