How much does the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 5,224 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, advanced features, and strong value, and many also like the luxury-SUV feel created by the technology and safety equipment. The review summary also points to smooth driving and positive feedback around the AWD models.

The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the lack of an N-Line performance variant. In practical terms, that means you should view it as a value-first family crossover rather than a sporty one, especially if you want stronger acceleration.

The Santa Fe fits buyers who want a midsize two-row crossover with a lot of equipment for the money, and 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as comfortable and enjoyable to live with, and the review summary also points to a generally dependable ownership experience, even though a few owners mention concerns about engine reliability. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by emphasizing Hyundai’s industry-leading warranty and low maintenance costs.

Hyundai also includes three years of complimentary maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been maintained well, especially if you want to avoid engine-related concerns.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper vehicle-by-vehicle review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, and pay close attention to how the powertrain, electronics, and safety systems operate in real-world use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE is the base trim and is the most basic in appearance and equipment, while the Limited and Calligraphy add a more upscale look and feel, including a larger digital cluster and more premium cabin materials. The lower trims also use reflector-type headlights, while the higher trims get projector-type units.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, while the Limited and Calligraphy use a turbocharged version with 281 hp and 311 pound-feet. The turbo engine is the better choice if you want stronger acceleration and easier passing.
• Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction-turning detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, driver monitoring, a safe-exit system, and a rear-seat reminder system. Highway Driving Assist comes standard on SEL and above.
• Infotainment: The base SE uses an 8-inch display audio system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other trims get a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation and traffic information, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio, voice recognition, wireless device charging, digital key, and Bluelink connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The non-turbo FWD model returns 26 mpg combined, while the AWD version gets 24 mpg combined. The turbo FWD version returns 25 mpg combined, and the turbo AWD version gets 24 mpg combined.

Which 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe trim should I buy?

The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value entry point, and it gives you the core Santa Fe formula with standard safety tech, wireless smartphone integration, and the base 8-inch infotainment setup. It makes sense if you want the lowest price and can live without the larger screens and extra comfort features.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation system, wireless device charging, a proximity key, and push-button start. It also gets Highway Driving Assist, which makes it the most balanced choice for everyday use.
• XRT: This trim is for buyers who want a tougher-looking Santa Fe with dark exterior details, black roof rails, unique side moldings and steps, dark alloy wheels, and H-Tex seating surfaces. It is the right pick if style matters more than luxury.
• Limited: This is the sweet spot if you want the turbocharged engine, leather seats, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a heated steering wheel, Harman Kardon audio, cooled front seats, heated rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, and more ADAS. It is the best choice if you want the strongest mix of performance and features.
• Calligraphy: This is the most luxurious version, with a premium-finish grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, ambient lighting, quilted premium Nappa leather seats, a head-up display, premium side sill plates, and a hands-free smart liftgate with auto open. Choose it if you want the most upscale Santa Fe experience.

Safety-package note: Highway Driving Assist comes standard on SEL and above.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,224 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,335, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $23,857 sits slightly below last year's $23,991.

That small decline suggests the Santa Fe has held value fairly well rather than dropping sharply. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to a market that is still willing to pay for the model’s mix of value, safety, and equipment.

If you buy well and keep the vehicle in good condition, you should be in a reasonable position when it comes time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe safe?

The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe received a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and Top Safety Pick+ recognition from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction-turning detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, driver monitoring, a safe-exit system, and a rear-seat reminder system. Highway Driving Assist comes standard on SEL and above, and it adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability.

One caveat is that IIHS liked the projector-type headlights in the Limited and Calligraphy trims more than the reflector-type units in the lower trims. That makes the higher trims a better pick if you want the strongest safety package across the board.

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It carries over nearly unchanged, with minor equipment shuffling and a small horsepower increase for the base engine.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $20,992, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $23,857 average.
• It adds a plug-in hybrid version and a new XRT trim.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $30,159, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $23,857 average.
• It brings a full redesign with bolder styling and a more substantial feel.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the right pick if you want the current-generation Santa Fe’s value, safety, and tech without paying redesign-year pricing. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2022 is worth a look; if you want the newest styling and a more dramatic update, move to the 2024.
