Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 4.67 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 stands out first and foremost for its design. Hyundai’s latest EV has a look that is hard to ignore, and the production version of the Hyundai Prophecy concept gives it a capsule-shaped sedan profile that sets it apart from the more common electric crossover formula. It is also presented as one of the few electric cars that really looks the part, which makes its styling a defining part of its appeal.
Beyond the shape, the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 carries over several of the strengths associated with Hyundai’s EV approach. It uses Hyundai’s E-GMP dedicated EV architecture, offers high-power charging, and includes a user-friendly infotainment system. The lineup includes Standard Range and Long Range battery packs, single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrains, and SE, SEL, and Limited trim levels. In testing, the dual-motor AWD Limited model was praised for great handling, impressive electric range, and comfort.
The tradeoff is that the design may not be for everyone, and cargo space is limited. Even so, the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 is distinctive because it combines a striking sedan body with the practical strengths buyers expect from a modern EV.

Smart park assist to pull out from garage and park into narrow space is cool. Interior is spacious. Trunk is spacious. Drunk is small and useless, bad idea not to have a cover. My sole complaint with electric vehicles right now is that they feel sterile. They take away what makes/made driving enjoyable. For most, this is probably a non-issue, but for some, me included, a vehicle that provides feedback is a vehicle that makes driving worthwhile and pleasurable.

Yes — the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.
It stands out as a distinctive electric sedan with a capsule-shaped profile, dedicated EV architecture, high-power charging, and a user-friendly infotainment system. In testing, the dual-motor AWD Limited model was praised for great handling, impressive electric range, and comfort.
The main trade-offs are a potentially polarizing design and limited cargo space.
With 34.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 is built around Hyundai’s E-GMP dedicated EV architecture, which supports high-power charging and a modern ownership experience. Its powertrain lineup includes single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive setups, and the car’s overall package emphasizes comfort, efficiency, and everyday usability.
The warranty coverage is also a meaningful ownership advantage for used buyers, especially if you want extra reassurance on a newer EV platform.
For used shoppers, the biggest long-term risk is making sure the battery, charging hardware, and electronics have been well cared for.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on an EV where charging behavior, software operation, and tire wear can matter a lot. Focus on overall condition, because the car’s design and equipment vary by trim and powertrain, and you’ll want to confirm the features you expect are actually present.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Base SE models have cloth seats, while SEL and Limited models have H-Tex leatherette upholstery; the Limited also adds front heated and ventilated seats.
- Powertrain: The base SE RWD Standard Range uses a single motor with 149 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while Long Range rear-drive models increase output to 225 hp; dual-motor AWD versions raise output to 320 hp and 446 lb-ft.
- Safety package: Standard driver-assist tech includes forward collision warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. SEL adds blind-spot collision avoidance assist and Highway Driving Assist 2, while Limited adds Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-Spot View Monitor.
- Infotainment: The cabin uses dual 12.3-inch displays, with Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto standard, but only wired versions are available.
- Fuel efficiency: The base SE RWD Standard Range is rated at 240 miles of range, SE RWD Long Range reaches 361 miles, AWD models are rated at 316 miles or 270 miles depending on configuration, and an AWD Limited test car achieved 3.9 miles per kWh.
Which 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 trim should I buy?
The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 is offered in 3 trim levels: SE, SEL, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: SE is the entry point, but it has cloth seats and fewer driver-assistance and convenience features than the higher trims.
- Sweet-spot trim: SEL is the best value if you want a stronger feature mix, since it adds blind-spot collision avoidance assist and Highway Driving Assist 2.
- Premium/top trim: Limited is the most fully equipped choice, adding front heated and ventilated seats, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-Spot View Monitor.
The SEL and Limited trims also benefit from the broader safety and convenience package, while the Limited is the one to target if you want the most advanced tech.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.
- Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 565 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.25% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 93.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $22,941.03, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6's resale value?
The current average of $25,807 sits slightly below last year's $27,237.
That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you plan to keep the car for a while. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car is equipped.
Because the model has a strong mix of range, comfort, and distinctive design, well-kept examples should remain appealing to EV shoppers. That said, the current pricing trend shows you should not assume appreciation; instead, think in terms of steady demand rather than rapid value growth.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard driver-assist tech includes forward collision warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. The SEL model adds blind-spot collision avoidance assist and Highway Driving Assist 2, while the Limited grade adds Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 automated parking, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-Spot View Monitor blind-spot cameras.
Highway Driving Assist 2 adds automated lane centering, automated lane changes, and vehicle cut-in response, but you still need to keep your hands on the wheel at all times. The system can also be a bit slow and may not hold the car perfectly centered in all situations.
Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.25% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines a striking sedan shape with high-power charging, a user-friendly infotainment system, and strong range.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $26,083, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $25,807 average.
