How much does the 2023 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 7.84% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,331 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Honda Pilot earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, comfortable ride, and room for up to 8 passengers, and they also value the stylish design and family-friendly practicality. The main trade-offs are that fuel economy is merely average and the infotainment system has drawn criticism for feeling underwhelming. For you, that means the Pilot makes the most sense if you want a roomy, comfortable three-row SUV with broad everyday usefulness rather than a sporty or especially tech-forward one. Good and great deals account for 38.3% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with a strong reputation for spaciousness and comfortable, trouble-free family duty. The expert drive notes also emphasize smooth, confidence-inspiring operation and a family-friendly tuning that favors comfort over drama. Honda’s maintenance-friendly ownership experience is reinforced by the model’s practical packaging and straightforward powertrain. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the specific vehicle has been cared for well, especially given the average fuel economy and the need to verify condition carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda Pilot?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a documented record. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the drivetrain, brakes, electronics, and any signs of off-road use if you’re considering a TrailSport. Focus on cabin condition and feature operation as well, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on comfort, convenience, and family usability.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Pilot’s rugged redesign gives it a more substantial look, and the TrailSport adds a one-inch taller ride height, unique 18-inch wheels, chunky all-terrain tires, and underbody skid plates. Base trims are more straightforward, while the higher trims add more convenience and capability.
• Powertrain: A 3.5-liter V6 makes 285 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on most trims, while all-wheel drive is available across the lineup and standard on the Elite and TrailSport.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, traffic-jam assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. EX-L and higher trims add low-speed automatic braking plus front and rear parking sensors, while TrailSport and Elite add surround-view and multi-view camera systems.
• Infotainment: Higher trims bring a larger infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, and USB ports in every row. Touring and Elite add navigation, Bose premium audio, remote monitoring and control via a smartphone app, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The FWD model is rated at 19 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. AWD drops to 19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, while the TrailSport is rated at 18 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined.

Which 2023 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda Pilot is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX-L, TrailSport, Touring, Elite.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but the available information points you toward higher trims if you want the Pilot’s best mix of comfort and technology.
• EX-L: This is the value leader. You get a power liftgate, leather upholstery, a universal garage door opener, second-row sunshades, the larger infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, USB ports in every row, and added safety equipment. If you want the best balance of price and features, this is the trim to target.
• TrailSport: Choose this if you want the Pilot’s off-road-capable character. It adds the taller ride height, all-terrain tires, skid plates, and TrailWatch camera system, making it the right pick for buyers who actually plan to leave pavement.
• Touring: This trim builds on the EX-L with navigation, Bose premium audio, remote monitoring and control via smartphone app, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. It suits you if you want a more fully equipped family SUV without going all the way to the top.
• Elite: This is the most feature-rich version, adding a head-up display, fully digital instrument panel, and standard all-wheel drive. It’s the right choice if you want the most upscale Pilot experience.

The EX-L and higher trims also bring important safety and convenience upgrades, while TrailSport and Elite add the multi-view camera systems.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda Pilot?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,331 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.84% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,728, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $35,728 sits slightly below last year's $38,768.

That price movement suggests the Pilot has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help support demand if you decide to sell later. A softer market today can also mean your purchase price is more favorable than it was a year ago, though resale will still depend on mileage, condition, and trim. Well-equipped versions with strong family appeal should remain easier to move than stripped-down examples.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2023 Pilot received a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on all trims and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, traffic-jam assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. EX-L and higher trims add low-speed automatic braking plus front and rear parking sensors, while TrailSport and Elite include surround-view and multi-view camera systems. In our testing, the advanced safety features worked as intended, and the adaptive cruise control behaved smoothly. If you plan to off-road, some proximity warnings and low-speed automatic braking may be more intrusive than helpful.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Fully redesigned for 2023 with a more rugged appearance, more power, and even more thoughtful convenience items, the new Honda Pilot crossover offers high levels of comfort, useful tech features, and an off-road-capable TrailSport model.

The bottom line: The 2023 Pilot is the better pick if you want the redesigned body style, stronger feature set, and the TrailSport’s added capability. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, a nearby model year may be worth considering, but the 2023 gives you a more modern package and strong family appeal.
