How much does the 2023 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 7.49% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,373 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.42/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for shoppers who want a roomy family SUV. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners repeatedly praise the Pilot’s spaciousness, comfortable ride, and room for up to eight passengers. The overview also highlights its stylish design, plenty of cargo space, and family-friendly practicality, which lines up with the user feedback.

The main trade-offs are that fuel economy is only average and the infotainment system can feel underwhelming compared with rivals. The expert notes also point to power that is adequate rather than exciting, plus steering that feels a bit too light and vague on the highway.

If you want a comfortable, versatile three-row SUV with broad family appeal, this year’s Pilot fits that brief well. With 38.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market activity to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.42/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a vehicle that feels spacious, comfortable, and solidly suited to family use, with no recurring complaints about day-to-day dependability. The expert notes also describe the Pilot as smooth and confidence-inspiring in normal driving, with controls that behave predictably and advanced safety features that function as they should.

Honda also includes a broad standard safety suite, which can help reduce ownership stress by adding useful driver assistance across the lineup. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about choosing a well-kept example that hasn’t been neglected or abused.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda Pilot?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the drivetrain, brakes, tires, and electronics, and pay close attention to how the cabin, infotainment, and safety systems have aged. If you’re considering a TrailSport or AWD model, make sure the added hardware and tires match the seller’s description and condition.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The TrailSport adds a more rugged look with a one-inch taller ride height, unique 18-inch wheels, chunky all-terrain tires, and underbody skid plates, while the interior remains more functional and versatile than before. The base trim misses some of the convenience and tech upgrades found higher up the range, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want more than the essentials.
• Powertrain: The Pilot uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 285 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on most trims, while all-wheel drive is available across the lineup and standard on the Elite and TrailSport.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, traffic-jam assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. EX-L and higher trims add low-speed automatic braking plus front and rear parking sensors, while TrailSport and Elite add surround-view and multi-view camera systems.
• Infotainment: Higher trims bring a larger touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, and USB ports in every row. Touring and Elite add navigation, Bose premium audio, remote monitoring and control through a smartphone app, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 19 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined for FWD models, 19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined for AWD models, and 18 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined for the TrailSport.

Which 2023 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda Pilot is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX-L, TrailSport, and Elite.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and the core Pilot experience without paying for extras. It gives you the redesigned body, the standard V6, and the full base safety suite, but you’ll miss the convenience and tech upgrades that make higher trims easier to live with.
• EX-L: This is the best-value trim. It adds a power liftgate, leather upholstery, a universal garage door opener, second-row sunshades, the larger infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, and the extra safety and tech features that make the Pilot feel more complete.
• TrailSport: Choose this if you genuinely want the Pilot’s off-road-capable setup. It adds the lifted stance, all-terrain tires, skid plates, and TrailWatch camera system, making it the right pick for buyers who plan to leave pavement behind.
• Elite: This is the most feature-rich choice, adding the head-up display, fully digital instrument panel, and the most complete convenience and camera setup. It makes sense if you want the most upscale Pilot experience and don’t mind paying for it.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but EX-L and higher trims add low-speed automatic braking and parking sensors, while TrailSport and Elite get the surround-view and multi-view camera systems.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda Pilot?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,373 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.49% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $36,231, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $36,231 sits slightly below last year's $39,166.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also mean future resale gains are limited unless the vehicle is especially well kept. If you’re planning to sell later, condition and trim choice will matter a lot, especially for higher-demand versions with stronger equipment.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.42/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2023 Pilot received a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, traffic-jam assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. EX-L and higher trims add low-speed automatic braking plus front and rear parking sensors, while TrailSport and Elite add surround-view and multi-view camera systems.

The main caveat is that NHTSA crash test results were not yet available in the source material, so you should still check for updated ratings before buying. If you want the most camera coverage, look for TrailSport or Elite.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.42/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model brings a full redesign with a more rugged appearance, more power, and an off-road-capable TrailSport model.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Pilot with stronger styling, better capability, and broad family appeal, the 2023 is the one to target. If your priority is simply getting the lowest possible price, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2023’s mix of comfort, space, and features makes it the more compelling all-around pick.
