How much does the 2023 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 2.95% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,925 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Honda CR-V earns a 4.71/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, quality interior, and strong feature set, and they also like its safety and economy. The CR-V’s roomy packaging and comfortable day-to-day feel line up well with its compact-crossover mission, especially if you want a practical family SUV with plenty of cargo space.

The trade-offs are the irritating transmission and uninspired styling, and it still lacks technological innovation compared with some rivals. Even so, the combination of comfort, space, and improved equipment makes it a strong choice if you value usability over flash.

With 37.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe the CR-V as dependable in everyday use, with a positive view of its overall quality and a reputation for trouble-free ownership that supports confidence over time. The expert review also emphasizes the SUV’s refined execution and the way it feels well sorted for long-term use, even if the transmission is noisy under hard acceleration.

Honda’s complimentary maintenance plan for two years or 24,000 miles adds a little ownership value, which can help offset some early service costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the specific vehicle has been maintained well and driven gently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda CR-V?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper vehicle-by-vehicle review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the transmission behavior, interior condition, and how well the tech and driver-assistance features work in real use. Since this model year brought a redesign, it is especially worth confirming that everything operates as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The EX and EX-L share the same exterior look, but the EX-L adds leather-wrapped seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a larger touchscreen, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power rear liftgate, and front and rear parking sensors. The EX is the simpler starting point, while the EX-L is the better-equipped choice if you want more convenience and a more upscale cabin.
• Powertrain: Both trims use a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. It is strong enough for a compact SUV, but the CVT can drone under hard acceleration.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a seatbelt reminder system, a rear-seat reminder system, a driver monitoring system, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Infotainment: The EX gets a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the EX-L upgrades to a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless charging, and an upgraded eight-speaker sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the test vehicle returned 29.1 mpg on a mountainous route, and the EPA says it should get 29 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2023 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda CR-V is offered in 2 trim levels: EX and EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• EX: This is the entry point to the lineup, and it gives you the core CR-V experience with the turbocharged engine, the standard Honda Sensing safety suite, a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the roomy, comfortable cabin the model is known for. It is the value play if you want the essentials without paying for extra convenience features.
• EX-L: This is the best-value trim if you want the most complete non-hybrid CR-V experience. It adds the larger 9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging, a better audio system, leather upholstery, a power rear liftgate, parking sensors, and a power-adjustable front passenger seat.

Honda Sensing is standard on both trims, so you do not need to move up the lineup to get the core driver-assistance package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda CR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,925 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.95% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,913, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $28,989 sits slightly below last year's $29,872.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also suggests the model has already absorbed some near-term depreciation. For a future seller, that means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle is equipped relative to similar listings.

The CR-V’s broad appeal should help support demand over time, especially because shoppers tend to value its space, comfort, and safety equipment. If you keep the vehicle clean, well maintained, and accident-free, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2023 Honda CR-V has not yet been fully re-tested by NHTSA or IIHS after its redesign.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a seatbelt reminder system, a rear-seat reminder system, a driver monitoring system, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist.

The expert review notes that lane-centering can feel uncertain in some highway transition situations and can add some artificiality to the steering feel. That is worth keeping in mind if you plan to use the feature often.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.95% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model brings a redesigned cabin, updated infotainment, and expanded safety tech, while also emphasizing electrification across the lineup.

The bottom line: If you want the newest redesign with improved tech and a strong ownership reputation, the 2023 CR-V is the better target. If your priority is lower purchase price, a nearby model year may be worth considering, but the 2023 gives you the most up-to-date version of this formula and a broad used-market selection.
