Used 2023 GMC Canyon for Sale nearSalem, OR

How much does the 2023 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 7.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,979 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — the 2023 GMC Canyon earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It also earns an expert rating of 7.3/10.

The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the Canyon’s luxurious interior, solid performance, easy driving character, and stylish design. That lines up well with its upscale mission, since GMC positions this truck above the Colorado and aims it at buyers who want more bells and whistles. The main trade-offs are a higher price, less value for money, and fewer available configurations than before.

With 35.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a truck that feels solid and dependable in everyday use, with many buyers describing it as easy to live with over time. On the road, the Canyon’s quiet cabin and composed behavior reinforce that impression, and the powertrain is described as working well together in normal driving. GMC also backs it with a three-year, 36,000-mile basic warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the truck’s premium positioning can make repairs and upkeep feel less forgiving if you buy a neglected example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the truck’s electronics, cabin condition, and any signs of hard use. Since this model is positioned as a premium midsize truck, condition matters a lot when you compare similarly priced examples.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Canyon lineup includes Elevation, Denali, AT4, and AT4X. The base Elevation skips some entry-level features found on the Chevy Colorado, while Denali adds the nicest interior touches and AT4X brings the most serious off-road hardware.
• Powertrain: Every Canyon uses a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is limited to the base Elevation, while four-wheel drive is optional on Elevation and standard on Denali and AT4X.
• Safety package: The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. Safety Plus and Technology Package features are not standard on Elevation and AT4, but they come standard on Denali and AT4X.
• Infotainment: You get an 11.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Google Built-In. An 8-inch digital cluster is standard on Elevation and AT4, while Denali and AT4X get an 11-inch cluster and a 6.3-inch head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The base rear-wheel-drive Elevation is rated at 18 mpg city and 23 mpg highway, while four-wheel-drive versions are rated at 17 mpg city and 21 mpg highway. The AT4X is rated at 17 mpg city and 20 mpg highway.

Which 2023 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2023 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation, Denali, AT4, and AT4X.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the entry point, but it still gets the strong turbocharged engine, the 11.3-inch touchscreen, and the standard safety package. It makes sense if you want the Canyon’s core strengths without paying for the luxury or off-road upgrades.
• Denali: This is the best-value pick if you want the most upscale version of the Canyon. It adds the nicest interior, standard four-wheel drive, a larger digital cluster, a head-up display, and the full set of safety and tech upgrades.
• AT4: Choose this if you want a more capable off-road setup without going all the way to the most extreme model. It adds a two-speed transfer case and a more rugged character while keeping the Canyon’s comfortable road manners.
• AT4X: This is the one to buy if off-road capability is your priority. It adds front and rear electronic lockers, skid plates, 33-inch mud-terrain tires, and off-road-focused hardware that makes it the most serious Canyon in the lineup.

The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package is included, while the Safety Plus and Technology Package features become standard on Denali and AT4X.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,979 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.57% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,909, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $37,909 sits slightly below last year's $41,012.

That decline suggests the Canyon has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help keep demand steady if you decide to sell later. A softer market today can also mean you may need to price your truck competitively to move it quickly. Even so, the Canyon’s premium positioning and strong owner satisfaction should help support interest from shoppers who want a more upscale midsize truck.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon safe?

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. On Elevation and AT4, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, rear pedestrian alert, and the surround-view camera system require optional packages. Those features are standard on Denali and AT4X.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so you need to pay attention to trim and package content if safety tech matters to you.

Should I buy a 2023 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a more upscale cabin, stronger tech, and a more premium positioning than the previous generation.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $29,706, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $37,909 average.
• It offers a broader trim spread and a wider range of powertrains.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $39,357, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $37,909 average.
• It adds an AEV package with even more off-road hardware.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Canyon’s upscale feel and strong tech, the 2023 is the right target. If your priority is lower purchase price, the 2022 is the better value path. If you want the most capability-focused version, the 2024 is worth a look.
