Used 2023 GMC Canyon for Sale near Kentucky

How much does the 2023 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 7.71% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,901 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — the 2023 GMC Canyon earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the luxurious interior, solid performance, easy driving character, and stylish design. Those strengths line up with the Canyon’s upscale positioning and its appeal if you want a midsize pickup that feels more polished than basic.

The trade-offs are that the price is high for a used truck and the truck gives up some value and flexibility versus more basic rivals. Even so, the market still shows 35.9% good or great deals, which means you can still find attractive listings if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to solid performance and a truck that feels easy to live with, while also emphasizing the luxurious interior and stylish design. The expert evaluation also describes the Canyon as having a good balance of on-road livability and off-road capability, with quiet cabs and a feeling of solidity rare in body-on-frame vehicles.

The Canyon also comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile basic warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is more about condition, maintenance history, and how the truck was used than about any obvious durability red flag.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a truck that may have seen towing, off-road use, or heavy daily driving. Focus on overall condition, feature operation, and signs of wear that could matter more on a premium-priced used truck.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Elevation skips some of the Chevy’s entry-level features, while Denali adds the nicest interior with laser-etched open pore wood trim and leather upholstery. AT4X pushes the truck toward a more dramatic off-road look and feel, and the AT4X Edition 1 adds a front safari bar, light bar, winch, and standard bed rail system.
• Powertrain: Every Canyon uses a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is limited to the base Elevation, while four-wheel drive is optional on Elevation and standard on Denali; AT4 adds a two-speed transfer case, and AT4X adds front and rear electronic lockers, skid plates, 33-inch mud terrain tires, Multimatic spool-valve dampers, and Baja drive mode.
• Safety package: The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. Safety Plus adds rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, and rear park assist on Elevation and AT4, while adaptive cruise control requires the Technology Package on those trims; Denali and AT4X get those features standard, along with a Safety Alert Seat.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses an 11.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Google Built-In. Elevation and AT4 get an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, while Denali and AT4X upgrade to an 11-inch cluster and add a 6.3-inch head-up display with wireless phone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The base RWD Elevation is rated at 20 mpg combined, 18 mpg city, and 23 mpg highway. With 4WD, Elevation drops to 19 mpg combined, 17 mpg city, and 21 mpg highway, and AT4, Denali, and AT4X follow their own EPA ratings depending on drivetrain and tire setup.

Which 2023 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2023 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation, Denali, AT4, AT4X.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the Canyon’s core powertrain, tech, and upscale feel without paying for the higher-end luxury or off-road extras. It’s the best-value trim if you want the redesigned truck’s main strengths at the lowest starting point.
• Denali: This is the trim to choose if you want the nicest interior, standard four-wheel drive, and the most premium everyday experience. It suits you best if comfort and upscale details matter more than price.
• AT4: This is the better pick if you want a more off-road-oriented setup without going all the way to the most extreme version. It adds a two-speed transfer case and a more rugged character while keeping the Canyon’s strong on-road manners.
• AT4X: This is the most hardcore Canyon, with front and rear electronic lockers, skid plates, 33-inch mud terrain tires, and off-road hardware that backs up its trail-focused mission. Choose it if you want the most capable and most dramatic version of the truck.

The higher-level Canyon Denali and AT4X also include the Safety Plus and Technology Package features standard, along with a Safety Alert Seat.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,901 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.71% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,763, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $37,763 sits slightly below last year's $40,917.

That price movement suggests the Canyon has softened enough to create a better entry point for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if the market stays soft. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the prior-year average.

The Canyon’s premium positioning can help support demand, especially for shoppers who want a more upscale midsize truck. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2023 GMC Canyon is at least available with the same driver-assist features that have become the norm for cars—but some key features aren't standard.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. On Elevation and AT4, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, rear park assist, and adaptive cruise control require optional packages, while Denali and AT4X make those features standard and add a Safety Alert Seat.

Should I buy a 2023 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign gives you a more upscale midsize truck with strong tech and a premium feel.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $29,495, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $37,763 average.
• It offers a more budget-friendly, more configurable Canyon with multiple powertrains and trims.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $39,238, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $37,763 average.
• It adds an even more extreme off-road AEV package for the AT4X.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the redesigned Canyon’s upscale feel, strong tech, and solid owner satisfaction. If price matters most, the 2022 is the better value play; if you want the newest off-road hardware, the 2024 is the step up.
