The Chevrolet Tahoe got a full redesign for 2022, bringing sleek style and better tech. Chevy isn’t done with the SUV, and for 2023, the Tahoe gets a major upgrade with available Super Cruise technology. Chevrolet sells the 2023 Tahoe in LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country trims. The standard engine is a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Available engines include a 6.2-liter V8 that makes 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. A 3.0-liter turbodiesel is also on offer; it produces 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. All engines come paired with a ten-speed automatic and either rear- or four-wheel drive (RWD or 4WD). The appeal of a full-size, body-on-frame SUV for many is the capability and towing. The Tahoe can carry up to 1,746 pounds of payload in certain configurations and can tow up to 8,400 pounds. That’s as much as some pickup trucks, but remember that payload ratings also include passenger weight, so it’s not a great idea to load the Tahoe down with people and then try to carry a heavy load of cargo in back. The base Tahoe LS gets cloth upholstery, but moving up the trim ladder brings more luxurious finishes for the seats and cabin. Top trims add soft leathers and nice finishes like wood trim inside, and all models bring acres of space for people and gear. The Tahoe’s third-row seats are usable by adults and remain mostly comfortable for extended periods. With the second- and third-row seats folded flat, the SUV offers up to 123 cubic feet of cargo space, and it’s one of few vehicles to offer usable cargo space when the third-row seats are upright. An 8-inch touchscreen comes with the base LS trim, but all others get a 10.2-inch touchscreen running the latest Chevrolet Infotainment System. It’s a colorful interface with clearly labeled menus and icons. Navigation is easy and requires few taps to accomplish tasks such as changing a radio station or climate setting. The system also makes it less distracting to interact with the truck while driving. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, USB inputs, and more all come standard. The 2023 Tahoe hasn’t received full crash test ratings yet, but Chevrolet loads it up with advanced safety gear. The SUV gets Chevy Safety Assist, which brings automatic emergency braking, forward collision alerts, front pedestrian braking, following distance indicators, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warnings, and automatic high beams. Pricing for the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe starts at $56,095 for the base LS trim. The top Premier and High Country models start at $69,495 and $76,295, respectively. As it does for its trucks, Chevrolet offers numerous upgrades and options for the Tahoe, including more powerful engines, upgraded audio and tech features, and nicer interior trim.
