How much does the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 7.83% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,346 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong shopper satisfaction. It stands out as a roomy, value-oriented midsize sedan with plenty of space, pleasing styling, and easy-to-use features, and it is especially appealing if you want a straightforward family sedan without paying premium prices. The tradeoff is that it is described as less refined than some rivals, so it fits you best if value and practicality matter more than a premium driving feel. 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Malibu’s reliability record is mixed overall, but this generation is described as the best of the front-wheel-drive Malibus for reliability. It also benefited from updates over time, including added safety features and improved tech, which can make late-model examples feel more complete. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that condition and maintenance history matter a lot, so you should be selective about the specific car you choose.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Chevrolet Malibu?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a history report to confirm the car has no accident or title issues, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if anything in the listing looks inconsistent. Focus on overall condition, especially signs of wear that might suggest harder use, because a value-oriented sedan can vary a lot from one example to the next. It also helps to check that the infotainment and safety features work as expected, since those are part of the Malibu’s appeal.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,346 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.83% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,462, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $16,462 sits slightly below last year's $17,861.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has become more affordable for buyers, which can also mean future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may benefit from the lower entry cost, but resale will likely depend on how clean and well-documented your specific car is. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2023 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a roomy, value-focused midsize sedan with strong shopper satisfaction and a lower used price than many rivals. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years to see whether a similar car offers a better mix of mileage, condition, and asking price.
