Is the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V stands out because it combines family-hauling and towing duties with brisk performance, while still delivering the big power, space, and comfortable seating position you expect from an Escalade. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy and a high starting price. If you want a large luxury SUV that is also genuinely fun to drive, this year’s Escalade-V fits that brief well. 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some shopping leverage.

Is the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The Escalade-V is presented as a known quantity in the luxury SUV space, and its supercharged V8, 10-speed automatic, and standard all-wheel drive point to a serious performance setup rather than a novelty package. The powertrain is backed by a 6-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty, which adds some reassurance for used buyers.

The performance hardware is substantial, but the ownership risk for used buyers is still tied to the usual high-performance-SUV realities: premium fuel, heavy use, and potentially expensive upkeep if the vehicle has been driven hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a vehicle this powerful and expensive to maintain. Focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether the technology and driver-assistance features operate as intended. Because this model blends luxury, performance, and towing, it’s worth checking that the cabin, brakes, and suspension have been cared for properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Escalade-V stands apart from the rest of the Escalade lineup with revised lower front and rear fascias, dark 22-inch wheels, and V badges, while the cabin adds a 38-inch curved OLED display, semi-Aniline premium leather, Zebra-wood inlays, heated and ventilated 16-way front seats, massage front seats, a 36-speaker stereo, rear-seat entertainment, and a panoramic sunroof. Many of those features are standard here even though they are optional on the standard Escalade.
• Powertrain: It uses an intercooled and supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. Cadillac says it can reach 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and tow up to 7,000 pounds when properly equipped.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, an HD surround-view parking monitor, adaptive cruise control, reverse automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, a safety alert seat, head-up display, night vision, and an augmented-reality display. Super Cruise is also included, and for 2023 it adds automatic lane change.
• Infotainment: The dash centers on a 38-inch curved OLED setup with a 16.9-inch main touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and standard navigation. The left-side touchscreen adds trip-computer and display controls, and the system also supports night vision and augmented-reality functions.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA has not yet released fuel economy estimates for the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V, but in testing the Escalade-V ESV averaged 15.5 mpg. It requires premium fuel.

What is the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V's resale value?

The current average of $106,401 sits slightly below last year's $118,420.

That decline suggests the market has moved in your favor if you’re buying now, but it also means a future seller may need to price more competitively than owners did a year ago. The current range still shows meaningful demand, especially for a vehicle with strong equipment and performance credentials. Should I buy a 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V or consider a different year?

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 stands out for combining the Escalade’s family-hauling and towing mission with genuine performance, plus Super Cruise with automatic lane change.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive version of the Escalade formula, the 2023 is the one to target because it blends big-SUV utility with serious performance and standout tech. If your priority is simply getting into an Escalade-V at the lowest possible price, a later shopping window may help, but the 2023 already shows softer pricing and solid inventory, so it’s a sensible place to start.
